Northampton (A) match thread - 1st April

Let's be honest, we deserve to go down. This league is the weakest it's been for years, and we're one of the weakest out of an incredibly weak lower half. 

The fact that, after 40 games with less than a point per game, we still have a chance of staying up, says it all really. 

I'll be renewing our season tickets now DF has gone, regardless of which league we're in, but lessons must be learned from the previous three transfer windows if next season is to be significantly better than this one.

The club have been apathetic for a few seasons. No real ambition to start with and now people have threatened not to renew season tickets do Vale do something about the elephant in the room.

Players who are League One standard:

Garrity, Ripley, Wilson (but made of glass), Chislett.

Players who aren’t League One standard:

Smith, Ojo, Plant (but he’s never played in his position), Clark (never fit).

Players who aren’t League Two standard:

Loft, Debrah, Yak, Sang, Jones, Leutwiler

Players who aren’t NW Counties standard:

Grant, Massey, Uche, Lowe

Can’t grade Dipepa, Shorrock and Walters because they should be playing with their own age groups. Haven’t included the loans albeit most are trending to the bottom two groups.

An utterly dreadful squad of “footballers”.

I'm on holiday but don't criticize the away fans.

This team have lost 21 games out of 40...last season we lost 23 out of 46.

That's how bad we are and it isn't down to the fans

Seems like we a ok team if do not concede first 

Fancy giving them a goal from our breakaway ain't seen it heard it was horrendous. 

After that the character wasn't there to equalise 

Tells me a lot 

Seen it too often this season .

6 games left all pretty hard in reality .

Burton Cheltenham and us 2 out of 3 too go looks like Fleetwood and Carlisle are gone .

Don't understand the change in application today .

Were they tired from Fri .

Don't get it myself sounded like Chislett deserved a goal why was he taken off .

Few times sounded like Vale should have scored .

Not to be we created our own bad karma

Dm said in his presser that they might still have been tired from Friday. Really?! The mantra at the start of the season was to be fitter and stronger. Poor.

I thought Uche and Massey were both great when they came on today. Uche especially worked really hard and was notably better than Loft.

Didn't Northampton play on Good Friday then ! 

That's poor from Moore.

Usually they'll say the games can't come quickly enough when you're on a winning streak.

Absolutely classic Vale....up one moment, down the next. Today we had a great chance to cement things, but hey, we blow it. When we analyse the season end, however we end up, be honest we are not good enough. If we manage the miracle all we can say is that there are some crap teams in this division, us included.

I think we are done now,  not a lack of effort  it just as a team we  are not very good .

we playing a right winger at left wing back , a central midfielder at right back  and have 3 strikers who could not score in a brothel.

The F word has delivered the most unbalanced squad I think I have seen at vale , yet throw 2 LWB , 2 average strikers into the squad  and play players in there positions we would not be in relegation mix . This season has been football self harm inflicted by the DOF and the club , no one to blame but ourselves

They were as bang average all over the park as you'll find and also not really playing for anything. There for the taking and yet we reverted back to normal. We need a relegation to start again. Hopefully this time, Carol can clear her head of complete magic and the club can go back to basics and start to get things right on the pitch first and foremost.
