Clearly there are questions to be asked. It's 5 degrees in Burslem now. This game could have gone ahead? However, I don't want to be critical without the facts and knowledge of the league rules etc. It is a judgement that has to be made significantly influenced by the independent official called in.

From an injury recovery perspective it may be advantageous not to play. But slipping down the league, albeit with games in hand, applies pressure.

I remember a game v Swindon being called off not long before ko on a nice sunny spring like day, temp was about 8, but it was after a few nights of heavy frosts & due to the shade the Railway side hadn't thawed out. Air temps can be quite higher than actual ground temps.

If you're gonna call a game off, much better for everyone to do it the day before than on the day. Think we just have to look on the bright side in that it gives a bit more time for certain players to get more training sessions under their belt to aid recovery. When we do next play, we certainly can't complain about being leggy.

I think a lot of the problem with the Vale Park pitch in the cold weather is the penalty area at the Hamil Road end. It never gets any winter sun on it. So even if the air temperature improves, that area never really gets a chance to warm up.

We need to build a glass stand for the railway !🤣🤣

Stevenage called off due to a frozen pitch. People can say what they want about ours being called yesterday but that is far better than making them travel a long distance and then doing this a couple of hours before.

If I was a  Barnsley fan I'd be raging.
