I guess Lowe could move into central midfield as well.

As emergency Rob but we've not looked good with him in midfield to date. We need his organisation and leadership at the back.

I agree. I thought Sang looked quite good in CM, though had a tendency to drift out wide. In the formation that we play, based on departures and current injuries, we need 1 or 2 more bodies there I think

I've never

been convinced by Lowe in midfield personally and certainly wouldn't want to see him there for the rest of the season. We need more movement and pace in there

I quite like how blatant we have been in the exit interview questions around selling the club to new players:

Literally every question was designed for that purpose:

- How were you welcomed?

- Did you enjoy having lots of game time?

- Did you learn lots from the coaching staff?

- Were your family welcomed?

- Did you benefit from passing on your knowledge to younger players?

- What would you say to any player with the option to join port vale --> Take the opportunity was Alfie's answer

So at least we milked that for all we can. Only worry is that with all loan players going back and new additions it will feel like the first few games of the season. Atleast on the plus side we are being more adaptable recently to fitting our style of play to the players on the pitch.

Some Tottenham fans are twitter saying that we are signing Jamie Donley on loan from them

Would be good if Vale have a good working relationship with these prem clubs and they trust us with their players.

You looked after Devine and we now want him to play at a higher level.  Can you do this with Jamie Donley.  As long as he in the same skill level as Devine.

I think I would prefer us to sign a couple of wing backs over centre midfielders. We currently have Grant and Sang regularly playing wing back when they are central midfielders. Whilst it would be nice to have an upgrade in the middle I would much prefer to have a wing back that can run past a man.

Yeah they haven’t even tried to hide it and quite rightly. Did the same with Ollie if you watch his interview back.

He came on for them the other week Donley, really highly rated like Alfie but a striker I think, decent replacement for Thomas though.

A lot cheaper than buying a player and committing to their wages for 2 years or so, yes.

Give me real class and quality like Devine and Arblaster for half a season rather than a league 1 donkey you're tied to for 2 years anytime!

Onwards and upwards Vale!!

Absoutely gutted by Alfie going back, for me he is quality and with a better forward line, he would have looked even better.  I really can't understand that we have had a top 6 league 1 midfield however have played most of the season with a league 2 standard forward line, Wilson apart our strikers are not good enough.  We have to replace him, I know people saying we have lots of options but these are no where near the standard of Alfie or Ollie, coupled with Ojo and Garrity out, we are short of quality there, this has to be addressed for me or we will get dragged into trouble.  Sang for me has always looked better in a wing-back role which he has grown into and for me Lowe should not be played in midfield, whenever been there, the game has completely passed him by and like playing with 10 men.

Yep, my post was more to point out that he was missing in people's lists of central midfield options rather than saying he should be first choice.

I think he's a useful option off the bench, if we're trying to close out a game for instance.

Like Arblaster, I really wish him all the best. Think he got better strangely as we started struggle and thrived in that deeper role. Always gave his best and at times along with Ollie gave more effort than some of our own players.

A real shame and think it leaves us seriously weak, but that is the risk with loans and as much as I love these quality young players coming here, it’s not exactly progressing us. We’re now lower mid table and have lost our two best players, we need some decent permanent signings and given this recall (and arblasters) was always on the cards from day 1, I expect DF to have some replacements lined up. And hopefully not more loans.

Hope Alfie does well at Plymouth as they have had similar issues to us. Expect him to do well at that level
