Match Thread: Port Vale v Cheltenham Town

I’d stick to 3-5-2 for this, with Garrity back in midfield it gives us more attacking threat from there and play Harrison and Wilson and Butterworth maybe to go 45 each if Willo is fit enough.

Throw Dennis on if he’s in the country in time for this last 30 and switch it up then if need be.

Cass and Woz back on the right side and Hall and Benning left with Smudge back in the middle.

Garrity, Ojo and Charsley.

Probably won't happen but I'd love to see 433 tested again

Stevens
Benning Smith Hall Cass or Robinson
Conlon Ojo Garrity
Worrall Harrison Pollitic
The weird thing last season is that we never tried it once when we had Politic who is made for it yet as soon as Cooper came in who wasn't even half the player we tried it for ages.

No idea who will start up top with Harrison, I’d guess it will be Garrity or at a push Mipo. Was hoping we would have a proven player signed along side Harrison or at least someone different to what we already have. Don’t think the new lads will start or maybe not even make the bench just yet, politic aside. Need Wilson back asap

Some of the new lads will be on the bench. 100%.  No way on earth will we go into this game with no attacking players on the bench, as was the case last weekend.

Team well who knows who's up to speed who wants it and who is going put a winning performance in for Vale .
I'd love see DP off the bench .
Who's he going go for up front Harrison and Butterworth or the lad who did OK v Stockport.
Midfield he can choose from Pett Ojo Charlsley Conlon and Garrity Mcdermott also think Walkers injured so won't be seeing him I should imagine .
Forrester or Cass or Forrester or Smith or Hall or Jones I rate Jones the lads being out with a bad injury when back at full speed one of his passes alone could set up a goal do like Hall too tireless both defensively and offensively .
I think we missed Cass last week thought first half Robinson v Stockport was a class above second half obviously didn't do as well maybe because he was man marked out of game but needs to overcome that .
So my team
Stevens
Cass Forrester Hall
Robinson Benning
Charsley Pett
Garrity
Butterworth Harrison
At half time bring on Politic for Robinson and Mccarron for Benning and maybe last 20 striker from West Ham .

I'll have a swing at it, this isn't necessarily what i'd do but i think what Clarke may do:

                                        Stevens

                Cass                 Smith                  Hall

Massey                                                                     McCarron

                                           Ojo

                             Conlon          Garrity

                 Butterworth                  Harrison

A lot will depend on the fitness of the new lads.  I guess Butterworth up top with Harrison would make good sense if they were together at Fleetwood.

Agree.  Why continue with make-do strike partners for Ellis when we’ve just signed a player who has already played alongside him for more games than any other player at Vale (and is classed as a forward himself too)?  He’s already turned out for Blackburn (all be it just once) this season so would expect him to be fit enough to start.  Not sure of Dennis P’s fitness him having ver few minutes (did someone post it was <40?) of first team football since January, but he might be fit enough for a 20 minute burst as a super-sub if required.  Don’t see McCarron coming in for Sir Mal just yet but with DC’s ‘squad rotation’ this season who knows if either will even be in the match day squad per se?  Only real certainties (barring unknown injuries) you might say are Stevens, Smith, Hall and Harrison.

UTV  and 3 points please!
