And now I would agree with you. There maybe one or two who do fall by the wayside. I do think we need to be patient with both Conlon and Garrity. Conlon is currently playing like he did when he first arrived at the club but eventually he came good. I’m hoping he will adjust and produce the goods. Garrity came from Oldham where he spent half a season adjusting to league 2 football, he came with few plaudits but we really benefited from him last year. It may take Garrity half a season to adjust to league 1. Out of the two I fear for Conlon more than Garrity.

Agreed. And Conlon is still not match fit. He's going to need more pitch minutes before he's up to where he should be.

Same for Willo - he's going to need a few games before his twinkle toes sparkle, too.

Garrety is class, which is always there. He's been played out of position for the first handful of games and there's no cohesion up front for him to know or have confidence in. That will come.

And a heads up on Politic - he too will need time.

For me, while massively disappointed about Saturday and, yes, it was 2 important points dropped, there were a few spells where we showed that we were way better than them. I'm absolutely certain that the team will gel and we will get better.

No, we will not challenge for promotion or the play-offs. Nor would I want us to. But I'm confident we'll stay up.

Next few games will be tough. We won't pick up too many points. We need to be prepared for that and ensure we don't lose our <ovf censored> even more, and get behind the team.

Final thought from me on the game - As others have said, the referee was very good. But it was also great to see no players from either side arguing with her decisions, running at her screaming in her face, nor crowding around her and trying to intimidate her. Whether that was because she's a woman or because they respected her decisions, I don't know, but it was notable.

I suspect it’s a bit of both even the best referees officiating in the PL still get players in their face (some teams worse than others).  It’s been debated many times before and may have been a specific thread in the past on here ie is dissent/respect of officials in football an issue rather than just being accepted as part and parcel of the game.  The 10 yard penalty law/rule in rugby Union pretty much eliminates it in that sport, but would something similar work in football? It might only stop the on-pitch ‘influencing’ but do nothing to improve the poor quality of the officiating regularly seen which often causes the dissent in the first place.

Would be interesting to see if there’d be a similar reaction if the assistant referee who ran the line in front of the Railway paddock against Portsmouth actually took charge of a game and performed the same (as they did as an assistant ref).

Are we putting to bed that we consistently concede 90th minute goals now seeing as that’s the first one 😂

I think the point was more that last season we did lose quite a few leads. Maybe not lost minute but I can remember a few occasions where our game management wasn’t the best.

Without doubt we are still get used to this division and  we need to sharpen up a bit , the players in this division are a bit quicker and it does seem a bit stronger and more physical. I am sure we will pick up a bit as I think we are still catching up not having a long pre season . Our passing needs to improve and we need especially at home to be at it from the first whistle, we can’t keep taking half an hour to get up to speed. I am really hoping we can pick up a few points on our travels to make up for Saturdays disappointing result.

Read my mind 🙂 We have our 2 main strikers from last season unavailable (Wilson is not match fit) We could be 4-0-3 regarding the table. It will take time to gel, but I do think we need pace at the back. When we are on our heals, we do look vulnerable. But they cost money.

Midfield certainly lacks in creativity atm, but they need to do a job to stop the oppostion.

I do think the loans will work out, all young and will benefit from game time.

Not shocked by the position we are in, this team is mid table, thats a plus. Maybe higher but that may be next year. Tough league with all the  ex Champ teams that still cannot get out.

Great to see decent crowds and fans happy, UTV

Been thinking of this for the last few hours in the plane. One of the biggest problems we have right now is Confidence.

If you remember early on last season we were playing poorly and didn't have any confidence. Then DC and AC managed to get the team playing really well together and a LOT of teams feared us.

This is not going to come overnight - possibly 4-6 weeks, BUT once the team gel and get to know each other, trust the plays from the training field and play with confidence, I think you'll see a different group of players. A team

In the meantime we need to be the 12th man

We scored more than we conceded late on last season. The poster did clarify and say he was talking about this season in which we have conceded one late goal
