Vale passed out from defence, into midfield and then it stopped there as there was no one showing up front to challenge their defence.

Yes, what a joke of our entitled fans to expect us to play with a striker. How pathetic of them to expect us to try and get to the next round of the League Cup against a team we did really well against last year. Pathetic grubs!

This is a not much more than a glorified friendly in shocking conditions against a better side than ourselves. Concentrate on the fact that we're putting minutes into some players legs that really need it, such as Walker and Conlon, more than the result.

We all know we're toothless up front right now. We have less teeth tonight than Steptoe. But that will change in the coming games and weeks...

Yeah record is terrible. But yes an error like that still matters.

Played them last season and did ok? Why does us all of a sudden signing a striker mean they will be <ovf censored> Like Robinson? We’ve had long enough….. you can sign players before deadline day. A loss is expected but I expect us to have a sub keeper and to be able to pick a striker! That’s not a lot to ask. We’re league 1 now and have a weaker squad than last season. ‘Entitlement’. Fans just want to see a striker play in a pro game.

It's not constant. I've praised this club to the heavens almost constantly since Carol took over. Certainly throughout last season. Take it you'd have been happy to pay your money to watch Garrity and Holden up front, and some development squad on the bench?

It's not a glorified friendly. Since when we did treat this competiton as friendlies? Papa John trophy, I'd agree with but we could have progressed tonight and with most of the Championship teams knocked out already, stood a good chance of progressing to the 3rd round.
