Match Thread: EFLC1 Port Vale v Rotherham United

A cup visit from Championship newbies Rotherham, how they coped at Coventry on Sunday may affect their team selection as will our recent result at Exeter affect ours. Shuffle a squad for match time is a likely option and with an eye on coping for the visit of the Trotters. Not a cup that we have much history in, Rotherham`s historical moment at Vale Park came in 1955 when a loss in the last game of the season cost them a place in the top tier, Div1 at the time. The top 3 had the same number of points so a draw would have been enough, whereas they finished 3rd on goal average, their highest ever league placing. So, onto the match, a tough game, although the league is more important the money is useful.

(Rotherham`s game at the Ricoh postponed due to an unsafe pitch.)

We have much history in the competition. We enter into it every year. Problem is that our record in it is absolutely woeful

P-P due to Wasps not maintaining the pitch at the Ricoh properly.

We could have played this on the Tuesday after all.

They have been playing Commonwealth Games Rugby 7s on there all week, it was Safe enough for that.

The Football ought to give the 3 points to Rotherham and Fine  Coventry, it’s ***** ridiculous.

Stone

Forrester.         Smith.            Jones

Massey.                Pett.                 Hussey

                      Charsley.       Conlon

                     No ideas          Proctor.

No way will Proctor start this one. No matter what, the League is the focus, and if he can't even train all week, no way will he start Sat/Wed/Sat/Tue. And of those 4 fixtures, this is the one to send down the river.

Well hopefully see a reaction on Wednesday.
When I watch the football always look at the performance if the performances are good the results take care of themselves .
You could after yesterday alarming defeat drop every single player as none on current form deserve to be picked or you could give them the shirts and say to them go out and do the club and those fans who travelled to Exeter a performance that there committed support of you deserve .
A reaction is required after Fleetwood the excitement was building (folk saying get your tickets for the Bolton not be missed game ).
So if your a sales person and you have interest in your product if its a very good product folk will buy it or buy into it same applies to football if folk enjoy the atmosphere etc v Swindon in the hamil they will want it again and again and again so yesterday was extremely damaging to the club (a dark day ).
V Rotherham is to get some respect back early days or not we won or first game so why the lack of confidence 2nd game
Team well I want see passion .
Couldn't care less who plays but there body language has to show they want play .
So for me Forrester Stone Hall and 8 others hopefully including winner T Pett and B Walker with Forrester along with another in back 3 maybe the lad from.Watford .
Time to put the right performance in so that everyone is buzzing for the visit of Bolton and there 3250 fans

He certainly didn't play on Saturday so might be ok for this one

Think Rotherham not playing today will mean they will play a very strong 11 and not make many changes, they are not likely to want to go 2 weeks in between matches especially early on in the season, if they had been playing, think they would have made lots of changes.

I would have said change the whole 11 but as we have nobody else who can play in goal other than stone and only proctor as a striker available then make 9 changes to the team. Attendance will be really low probably below 3500 with Rotherham bringing about 300 at a guess. If Rotherham play a strong team then they will win 3 or 4 nil if they rest a few then it may go to extra time and penalties.
