Who should we sign?

When he came back from loan at Chester outside the transfer window so we were unable to sign other players in contract, we could have had a look at him then before releasing him. He was fit as he had been playing for Chester. That was my point.

Personally, and it is just my opinion, I don't get the criticism of Crookes. I thought he did alright as the games went on.

 

And that back four had the best away defensive record in all divisions, so I wouldn't exactly say it was a problem area.

 

I'd say the opposite - I thought his game went downhill as the season went on. (particularly his forward play - maybe if Askey signs a proper quality left-winger Crookes can just sit in and concentrate on defending?)

 

As for the defensive record, I'd put much of that down to Aspin's ultra-negative 'let's aim for 0-0' tactical approach, which obviously was more suited to away games.

I think he'd be solid enough. He's only young as well so he'd improve as a regular.

 

I do agree on the style to a degree though. It's no coincidence we also.had the worst offensive record to go with it.

Typical happy clapper would accept mediocre players being signed instead of signing first team players.

All these good players being released and we get Lloyd and Dickinson .

That’s really going to help season ticket sales.

These should be desperate last resort signings at the end of the window not top of your wish list signings.

Who else in the league is going to sign them.

At least Harry Smith has been signed by another club so he isn’t available.

Until the playing budget is known, then its hard to see who will be in our price range. We released 9 and I hope , we agree, quality over quantity is the way forward. So we have to accept that some signings will be squad players and others to be instant First team. But unless the budget is huge (it wont be), then like every team we will be trying to get the best available. I could select 9 players from the released list, afford 3 and then my budget has gone, its a balancing act. Fortunately we have a manager and that is his job.

Surely James Wilson is way too good for league 2? I don’t personally want dicko back he looked way past it in his last season and we’ve already got Pugh to help out with coaching and the younger lads
