I would hope that we don't waste the budget paying off players that are under contract, and have shown that they can be useful assets to have in the squad.

 

I'd rather all of the budget went on adding new quality players to the squad.

 

You would hope that, but it sounds like there will be a big clear out tho. Hope we can see some quality next year and not the quantity we normally get.

Macc up, County down. Well done Sol, especially after so many for so long doubted his ability to cut it as a manager. Well, he's done it the hard way rescuing Macc from what looked like the certain drop in L2, seven points adrift when he took over. All he needs to do now is let us buy Elliott Durrell and it's a good season.

Thought Anthony Kay was excellent today.

 

Much maligned on these pages over the last 2 years - for me a good honest pro who has rarely let us down.

 

Yes he has his limitations, but provides strong character and leadership, protects the centre backs, never hides from having the ball and is a goal threat.

 

If Ray Williams is right that he will be released then thanks for your honest contribution that has helped see us to safety during a very difficult 2 years in the clubs history

The lads played well today, outplaying an excellent Bury side. People who say we can’t play football with Pope upfront should have come along today. It was a centre forward masterclass.

good performance today kay vassell pope Worrall conlon had really good games. we could have been 3 up at half time but bury came back into it 2nd half and I think it must be the miss of the season. great atmosphere and following in the away end

Great performance from the team today, we could’ve won that by 2-3 goals. What to make of the subs though....

 

Whitfield and Monty - I thought they were very poor today, not sure if they deserve to be in next years squad, way too inconsistent.

 

Conlan has a great energy if we had another 3/4 like him the opposition wouldn’t get much time on the ball. Kay was spraying balls all over the place and a superb ball for popes goal.

 

Pope wanted to show them what they missed out on and won everything today, held the ball ip well!

 

Who’s that Vassell lad..... looks like a new player, too little to late? He needs to watch that game back again and ask himself why he’s not played like that before!

 

Joyce quiet game, broke up the play a lot, Hannett busy but the lad runs around the pitch like a kid just started out playing.... cannot defend to save his life.

 

Defensively I thought the back 4 played well, at times they did stand off too much....

Next season build the team around Brown. Hopefully Askey can do that with new owners in charge and a feel good factor at the club. We don't half need some players though.

I always felt he gave his all every game and I agree that he has been a good pro. The problem we have is that it seems askey wants to play quicker and pressing football and unfortunately kay just can't do this.

 

I've always liked him though and he'll leave with my gratitude as he's scored a couple of very important goals too.
