I doubt whether players ponder unduly about behind the scenes matters, but Smurfthwaite’s recent threat of putting the club into administration must attract the attention of even the less concerned mind.

 

Who could blame ANY out of contract player from looking elsewhere with that possibility hanging over their heads ?

 

Perhaps the more pertinent question may be which out of contract players would be prepared to put pen to paper under those uncertain circumstances ?

I agree. Some players will undoubtedly get flack for not signing up again, but would anyone sign a contract with a company that is under threat when they can get the same or better terms in a stable situation? No chance. Well done Smurf. Seeya later Clarke, Manny etc. who would be great to keep.
