Aspin close to leaving the Vale ?? Staying

There was a performance physcologist t on Radio Stoke tother day who suggested what Aspin said was borne out of frustration/fatigue and was a bit rash.

A Stoke fan summed it up on P&G when he said that if you play a defensive negative style you HAVE to win. They should know they had a decade of Pullis.

Not if you’ve played for vale according to some on here. Worst league 2 side in 2018 but he’s doing a great job.

Patience is, as they say, a virtue.

Just because the rest of football has gone mad doesn't mean we have to.

I've said all along that a mid-table finish this season was probably the best we could hope for. For me, Aspo needs to deliver automatic promotion next season - not this aiming to be 7th best team in Division Four.

Football has gone mad. But us sacking aspin wouldn’t have been mad. It would’ve made perfect sense for reasons that have been mentioned previously. I would accept mid table as you say promotion next year would be a must.

He's brought some decent players to the club so far, and if funded could do the same this month.

Let's see where we stand come the end of February, there's still 20 games to play.

2016 we were the 47th worst side.2017 we were 74th. Now even you who's got some sort of grudge against Aspin, will know its not down to Aspin why season after season we seem to get worse.

So far this season in 2018 we got 7 wins, compared to 2 wins from jan- May last season, and last seasons side was probably the worst me and you have ever seen at Vale, yeh? If we can get 55plus points this season, surely its a start and decent season for Aspin in his first full season at the Vale.

Personally this recent run is the worst I’ve seen. Worse than last team. Just everything has been way off the mark. The football has been diabolical. The team is better yet the football and some of the performances against Grimsby, morcambe, Cheltenham, macc, Oldham ect were dire.

I have absalutley no grudge against aspin. Loved him as a player but it’s just simply facts and his record speaks for itself.

As you say I completely understand it’s not

Just his doing and that clown in charge has been the main reason for the overall decline but aspin hasn’t exactly excelled has he?

For me 55 points is a very poor return. It’s basement level football with some really really poor sides with much lower budgets than ourselves. Mid table is acceptable but we would need a big up turn for that.

It’s not just the points total that’s been the issue for me under aspin it’s the complete mad selections and negative selections. We barely see a shot on target never mind a goal. And then you get games where we look disjointed and concede god knows how many from set plays.

It will take a big improvement to turn it around for me. Now he’s confirmed to be staying Norman needs to give him money. As smithe said he has made some decent signings. Most permanent ones are decent, loans pretty awful. I just don’t see aspin taking this side forward

I just want to see something positive. Stretching the opposition. A counter attack maybe. Setting a winger away with yards of space to run into, that sort of thing. The stuff you used to watch and get excited by when you were younger (at least three years younger).

I don't want to see flat negative football where we look scared to death of losing but end up doing so anyway. You might as well be hanged for a sheep as for a lamb.

It’s great to see that the silent majority finally got a voice over the aggressive minority. Hopefully now we can settle down to continue the good work to date Aspo has done in setting up strong foundations for this club to build a team to take us to Division 1. Mid table will be a good start. If we stick with Aspo I think we will be promoted within 3 years. In Aspo we trust.

I'm genuinely interested to know what you've seen from Aspin's reign so far to suggest that we will be promoted in three years.

The silent majority think the football has been poor but have been biting their tongue out of respect for Aspin the player. They also don't know what to do for the best given our maverick owner and his recruitment record.

We might be promoted within three years. It could well be out of the Conference North though.
