Are you a Sjoke WUM wanting us to fail? You started a "Brown In" thread last season? Bet you still wear your Patterson shirt around town...

I have to out you Londonvale bearing in mind we have spent many a day travelling to watch the Vale play especially in our Crawley/Sutton days. I have never brought up on here your ‘Steino’ underpants fetish nor the fact that your cat is called Pullis which I have never seen you kick!! You have always been an Aspo terrorist which, as you know, I have put down to your tender years. In Aspo we trust.

A lot of statistics being thrown round on this thread. I take them with a pinch of salt. I can see with my own eyes that we are an improved team from last season, NA has bought in some players that worked out and some players that didnt. Every manager has the same problems. We are moving forward, just not as quickly as everybody wants or expects. We will finish mid table this season, and that's progress. Chopping and changing managers doesn't work, we need a few years stability and progression. I know a lot will disagree with this my response is simple, get behind the team you love and help the players win games.

A short statement from Smurthwaite or Garlick to the effect that " As a club we are concentrating on going forwards with Neil as manager and are confident that with the support of the club and supporters we can achieve our goals"

I’d love to know what Colin Garlick does.

Just to add a bit of light to an increasingly gloomy thread, I noticed that Arsenal's home page today has a great shot of Aspo defending against Arsenal at Vale Park. I think it's the exact moment when Bergkamp put the ball over Aspo and into the net but others who were there (I was at work) may recognise it better.

Happier days, methinks.

Please explain how we are moving forward? Keeping managers who have made port vale the worst side in 2018 dosent work either.

On the other hand you’ve probably got a load of fans not bothering to turn up because of who’s in charge of the club too.

I think it’s too much of a generalisation to say Aspin hasn’t got the players he wants. Not every player you want is going to come off which is why managers always have alternative options. There are lots of other factors involved other than just blaming Smurf for every failed signing.

I'm well aware that we can't always sign our manager's targets but tell me this when was the last time that we got a player who any other club wanted?.......... I rest my case no we just get the scraps I'm afraid.

Simple, did you sit through last season's dross? I'm not saying were setting the world on fire this year, but we are a better team. Goalkeeper situation solved, midfield much more mobile and effective. We are still struggling to score goals, that's the problem. So yeah, improved.

Is it not a case that yes, we have better players, but actually are as a team worse?

To say we are more mobile is a bit daft as we have to be the most static team in the division, and if we concede that, even in part, how then can we be more effective?

Based on what I personally saw last season compared to this, I think we are a better team. Just my opinion. And more mobile, cast your mind back to the Pugh Tounge and kay combination of last season, I've seen milk turn quicker. I'm not saying we are world beaters I'm saying we are better equipped this season, and hopefully some more tweaks in January we can start climbing the league.

I'm not sure what these past few days have been about.

We did well at Lincoln.

Aspo says it might be his last game.

Lots of uncertainty generated.

Announcement that he's staying to fight on.

Was it a review of progress generated by Aspo?

Was he calling out the naysayers?

Was he strengthening his hand with Smurf?

We seem to be where we started again.

I agree too.

Progress is very slow and very up and down.

Still no idea whether Aspo is the right man for the job though.

When is the time to criticise the manager then? Our season and year has been dreadful and the recent form and performances even worse.

There's a difference between criticising and sacking someone. Surely you can see how crazy football has become with sacking managers every five minutes.

Of course there's a risk in sticking or twisting but I'd rather ride out this period. The draw at Lincoln might just be the catalyst for a good run of form and results.

Players are better. I think we’ve been worse though. This time last season I was feeling pretty positive. Completed opposite this year. The football that’s been served up has been far far worse.
