I was just pointing it out to the holier than thou brigade EB....that’s all

I’m not condoning it but that away end was as crazy as I’ve seen in a long long time, it was carnage, utter carnage

We do have a problem in S-O-T and it seems back on the rise

What’s this WE have a problem ? I haven’t seen any stories of Vale fans mis behaviour tonight.

You lot just think you’re the bloody high and mighty because, for some unknown reason, you have more fans than us.

I would rather stick pins in my eyes than watch Stoke.

For a club that apparently doesn’t give jack shot about us, we don’t half seem to take up a lot of you’re time.

I have posted elsewhere about a measured response.Martin Smith did not advocate violence but his comments will have been seen by some as a rallying call to arms. I wrote before the game that the Sentinel should not have published that article. Subsequent events endorse that view. The appalling judgement of the Sentinel in allowing comments about justified mockery contributed to unacceptable comments from some Port Vale fans. That added to the mix and was entirely predictable. I compare Mr Smith's comments to those of Ally Simcock before the game. Ally wrote in friendly open honest measured tones but without losing that sense of football rivalry. Martin Smith and the Sentinel are culpable in their comments and judgement in fanning the flames towards predictable criminal violence being committed last night.

I really doubt a single person involved in the aggro last night was in any way influenced by an article in a newspaper that no-one reads.

It was a chance for a ''£10 tear-up'' and l honestly think the cheapness of the tickets set the tone for the game to be carnage.

The decision to put the kick-off back to 7.45 merely gave more drinking time, and I'm surprised by the naivety of the police in agreeing to it.

There was netting put up in the seating section by the away end but that seemed to be torn down and this made the interaction between home and away fans much more intense.

Time and again these police ''intelligence officers'' show themselves to be hopelessly out of touch and whilst the nutters on both sides are to blame, questions should be asked of Staffordshire Police's handling of the situation inside the ground at least.

If Stoke fans hadn't been idiots tonight, they might have been able to play the 'only the youth team, we don't care' card.

Once you start bottling players, throwing flares at fans, and trashing the away stand. The argument falls apart. They've shot themselves in the foot, making it clear they were quite bothered by tonight and got spanked by a tinpot league 2 outfit.

Their biggest game of the season falls to shambles so they take their anger out on a urinal.

It takes the line "We're coming to take the pi55" to an whole new level?

LOL @ "holier than thou brigade"

You literally took 4,000 fans to Vale tonight to do that yourselves.

You came to patronise and take the p¡ss. You embarrassed yourselves and ended up on the receiving end.

What is it with Stoke fans and smashing windows? Several pubs have been vandalised by Stoke supporters in this way and now the bogs in the away end.

I was once in the Glebe in Stoke, when they played Swindon and the landlord was boarding up his windows. When I asked if this was because he expected trouble off the away fans he said no it was the home fans he feared doing it.

Is it because windows can`t fight back?

They’ve moved on from licking them.

What can the police really do??

Outside the ground and in burslem they did a great job in keeping fans apart and stopping someone from getting seriously hurt

Well, arresting half-wits who throw things in the ground would help.If they can catch a Spurs fan who threw a banana skin,I'm sure they are capable of identifying idiots who throw seats, flares and bottles?
