593, Watch the highlights or the extended highlights, Hannant drew a good save from their keeper, Kay hit the bar and Miller had at least two chances, one he put just over the bar, the other a sharp chance that went just past their right hand post.

I went they were good efforts but I wouldn’t call them chances. Especially the Kay hit and Hannant effort

A win today and it looks like a steady start to the league season, a loss and we will be thinking here we go again... I just hope the boys can get their heads right and motivated as Aspin doesn't come across as the type of manager that can put passion into players what with his drab monotone personality so it takes a talker in the squad to drag the boys up.

I wake up on a Saturday with the usual optimism and anticipation of seeing an exciting match and going home in a fantastic mood. Come on Vale. Dig deep. We deserve a better season after the last two terrible ones and the general rubbish for the majority of the last fifteen years or so! Feed the Pope and wind the Miller up!

What about the Preston v Stoke game thought you would be an expert on that.

Hope for a good performance today. We need a result as Vale fans can be fickle and there could be an atmosphere of doom and despondency after 3 defeats in a week.

These played some good football last season and they do try and pass the ball out from the back.

I agree with Mickyfern in regards to Aspin being monotone and boring in his interviews. I really thought he’d be a bit more fiery and I’d be interested to see what he’s like in the dressing room as a motivator.

If you were a player would you be at all inspired by Neil Aspin? He's as dull as dishwater. Other than being an ex player, and he was a great player for the club make no mistake about it, the only other positive people seem to come up here about him is that he's "honest". Sorry, but if that's your biggest strength as a manager then it's not going to end well.

I'll give it until about 3.15 and then if there's any misplaced passes or we're not winning I'll start booing.

You'll be still be outside queuing for your ticket then!

Yes, we do need a positive result but don't think this lot are not a good team. As one or two have said, they knock it around and play good football and they beat us here last year.

I'd feel a bit more hopeful if Pope is fit but without him and not much creativity in midfield it could be another long 90 minutes.

Scoring first is absolutely vital. I'm yet to see us first out of the blocks in all three games to date so I hope this afternoon we come out fired up and on the front foot instead of waiting for the other team to score before we start playing.

That's a bit unfair. No-one had less charisma than Bob Paisley or Alf Ramsay but look what they achieved. Aspin has played hundreds of games above this level and is a legend of a player for Port Vale. He commands respect before he's said a word.
