Match Thread - Port Vale v Crawley Town

Lets get back to our opening day form, but likely to be heavily dependent upon Pope being back. On paper an easier run coming up than the last 2 games so more essential we make progress. Defensive frailties need stiffening up, sort out the best players for each position and give them time to settle. Also up to the rest of the team to take the pressure off by more effort and holding up the ball. Fingers crossed 2-0, but maybe 0-0 would be an achievement.

Win this the last four days will be in the past and in league terms we will have had a decent start with 6 points from 9. We've got five games now against sides not expected to do much so we will have a better picture after those games, if we can get to game 7 at 10 points or above we will be well on course.

The fans need a positive result to settle the nerves certainly!

Change the formation. Get some wingers on and actually play players where they’re natural. Get rawlinson at centre half and montano on the bloody wing or at least wing back.

Brown

Smith

Rawlinson

Legge

Gibbons

Worrall

Manny

Joyce

Montano

Miller

Pope

Bang on the money.

The only players capable of beating a man and hitting the byline are Gibbons and Montano. Push them further forward and lend some support in the centre of defence to Smith who really hasn't looked right for about a season.

We keep our width, unleash Monty and Gibbons, and get two big lads to assist Smith.

That makes sense. Wonder what Aspo will go with?

I dunno about anyone else but after the last two performances I'd be sat in the sheds steaming to get out and amongst them on Satdee......mind you I played rugby and being fired up and worried about your last performances helped sharpen the mind and body for the next match, especially the first 20 mins. I know the mentality is different but I'd just like to see some real passion from Vale. I don't care if it's 352, 442,91 or whatever formation....get out there and show you care....earn your wage and give the fans a real glow. Presume I'm just being a bit naive though really.....Come on Vale!!!
