Current Squad

Turner has played 42 times including sub appearances and scored 3 goals. So that is enough to make some observations. He is young and may still improve. He has been a squad player getting reasonable game time for age. When he has played it has been in attack or advanced midfield and so he does not look to be a solution to our goal scoring problem. On balance I think his potential warrants further time at Port Vale. If he is loaned out it should be to National League level where he would be an important player so it drives improvement by being central to the team's success. Otherwise he has enough experience to play for Port Vale if good enough to get in the team.

Turner has played 546 minutes in total for the first team, which is equivalent to 6 full games and scored 3 goals in that time, not 42 games as you say.. mostly sub appearances. That being 17 appearances in first team league football. That makes his ratio 182 minutes per goal and a 43% conversion rate. He has also scored plenty of goals in reserve matches. Turner’s goal was going in the net too when Angus put his head on it and claimed it... I’m not sure where your getting your information from but check his stats on the port vale site as that is correct, not what your saying.

I suspect your figures are for this season league games, the other posters stats are for total career first team including whatever the Autoglass was called this year.

Anyone know who the striker is that we're rumoured to have signed today?

Guess we'll have to wait until Aspo gets back. not sure if he's away for one or two weeks but it's going to be good to hear which forwards he's signed and then how he's going to fill the other remaining places in the squad. If they're on the same par as the ones he's signed already, there could be some good signings to come next week or possibly the week after.

Nice to look forward to the new season after the last two.

The latest name doing the rounds is Pádraig Amond. That’s only rumours though so nothing official!

Would be a really good signing - he's scored goals wherever he's been, 141 in 433 games, so one every three games or so. He signed a new contract in August 2017 for two years with an option of a third, so why would Newport agree to release him? Only if we paid a substantial fee. We live in hope.

very quiet the silence is deafening but we must assume that contractual talks are ongoing as we post and as most footballers have to have agents who are the pariahs of the football world things do tent to get bogged down by the bone idle easy money merchants chasing their percentages.

It's over a week since NS was quoted in the press that a signing was "over the line". The player must be on holiday meaning the press conference can't happen yet?

Hopefully a couple of promising strikers to be confirmed this week to boost season ticket sales. Not many goals in the squad as it stands at the moment. Still completely reliant on Pope as it stands.
