Tom Anderson recalled by Burnley, and loaned out

Be surprised , Think Anderson would be well out of our pay league , a player low down in a premier league pecking order would still be our highest paid player by a mile..

Absolutely he would, those players coming from Premier League clubs may be low paid by their standards but they'll still be on a few grand a week.

Surely Burnley won’t have recalled him to force our hand to pay for him so they don’t lose him for free in the summer? He’s worth no more than £50k absolute maximum which is peanuts to them. They will get £20million for wherever they finish in the Prem.

I can only assume there has been interest from elsewhere.

A league 1 club or high end league 2 side will be after him I guess.

Then the conversation should go like this:

Port Vale: "Hi, we'd like to loan Tom Anderson for a season"

Burnley: "You can, but we want an option to recall in January"

Port Vale: "Sorry, we can't run the risk of losing a player after 6 months. We will pursue other targets. Let us know if you change your mind".

Then we move onto another target. It was summer when we signed him, literally 1,000's of other options.

Works both ways e.g Pyke, Stubbs - we could have been stuck with these for a year.

Pyke and Stobbs were both season long loans with no recall option.

But obviously, if a player isn't playing, it is in the best interest of us, the player and the parent club to terminate the loan early without any repercussions.

As I said, it works both ways, they weren’t playing and got recalled. But we were lucky as we could have been lumbered with them for a full season. Not sure how much we were paying for them but there would be costs, just as there was when we had Inness who kept getting injured and we had to pay his medical bill.

I get what you're saying but I doubt parent clubs would let their player rot in the reserves of another club. That's not helping anyone. More often than not the parent clubs will pay the majority of the wage as we are effectively developing one of their players for them. Vale may contribute 50% for example but the whole point is that the players play games. I was disappointing in Pyke and Stobbs, felt they both had something to offer but neither were ever given a chance.

I hope we get some signings sorted soon! We've seen about 7-8 players leave this month and all we've got is 2 lads from non-league and an U23 player.

Really? I could have sworn they had been recalled!

I thought all season long loan signings had an option to recall after 6 months. Otherwise why would they let anyone go out on loan for 12 months especially if they don't get 1st team football.

Aspins job at present is like mountain climbing whilst wearing roller skates with the big blue yonder always in view.

Yes, and with an owner and CEO who won't break the club's pay structure no matter how desperate it gets.

Well, there's a simple question for me - do they really want the club to survive?

Followed by, will we be seeing the support the new manager was promised because, by goodness, we damn well need it now.

Not always. Remember Chris Martin going on loan to Fulham from Derby?

Derby changed managers and wanted to recall him in January but couldn't due to the terms of the loan. Even Martin wanted to return to Derby but had to see out the full season with Fulham!
