Whatever the reasons for his recall this is what happens when you have too many loan players and are too heavily reliant on them.

The reason we sign players with recall options is simple. The parent club wouldn't let them go if there wasn't one.

Burnley recalled him... we probably wouldn’t have got him without agreeing to the recall. I don’t think you can blame the club for this one.

The issue here is more around us building the backbone of our side around players who we either don't own or can't prevent leaving in January.

 

It's a consequence of a poor window last summer, which was a consequence of a poor window this time last year, which was the consequence of the Bruno summer. Every window we're playing catch up after what went wrong in the previous one.

Don't sign him. Move onto the next target. Negotiate better.

 

What's the point of a 6 month loan? Seriously? If they're in the team you run a very high risk of them being recalled and sent on loan to L1 or a better club. It's better to have someone you know will be with us for the full season.

 

The only saving grace is this wasn't done late afternoon on deadline day.

 

This whole scenario of being forced into panic signing in January is deja vu from this time last year!
