Adams resigns

Are you sure? I read it as Norman has asked him to go.

No doubt what happens in the days and weeks to come will make it clear.

Where did you read that, AJ? The official site says that "He has reluctantly made the decision to leave Vale Park following extensive discussions with chairman Norman Smurthwaite this morning". That sounds to me like it was his decision and his decision alone.

You complete moron. You've just shot yourself in the foot saying if I don't like people's opinions I can f*** off? Do you not see the irony of your post?

I understand how football works, a club like Vale have no God given right to be in League 1, and when you're best and most experienced Manager in years resigns when you're second from bottom, it takes a lot of recovery for a club like Vale. Our odds on relegation will surely be thrashed with this news. All of those players were Adams signings and played for Adams, do you really think they'll roll their sleeves up for a relegation dog fight now or look for the quickest route out?

The bets phrase to use is 'be careful what you wish for'.

There's no irony, the reason I posted **** off is because your posts are ridiculous, it's fair enough having an opinion but to say everyone else is blatantly wrong and that you hope we fail because of it isn't right.

So the one trick pony has galloped off into the sunset... Vale havent disappeared off the face of the earth.... the sun came up this morning... and the next game hasnt been cancelled.... just another day in the long running saga that is Port Vale.

Administration one year, promotion the next, manager leaves the next.... Thats football

Statement from Micky:

"It is with great sadness that I have decided to leave Port Vale but I believe I am leaving the club in a stronger position than when I joined.

Thanks to the players who played a major role in the decesion with there performances or lack of em on the pitch well dun lads hope the new bloke sorts u lot out

"I have spent five years in Burslem, punctuated by a spell at Sheffield United, and although the role of a football manager brings with it a roller-coaster of emotions, I will never forget my time at Vale and the many happy memories I will take away with me.

“This has not been an easy decision to make, which has been made even more difficult by the strong relationships I have forged during my time at the club. I would like to thank my immediate team, all of the staff at Vale Park and the many players I have worked with throughout my two spells. I have met some truly fantastic people.

“In addition, I would like to thank all of the Port Vale fans for their fantastic support. I hope that the club has only bright times ahead.

“I believe now is the time for another manager to take the helm and I would like to thank Norman Smurthwaite and his wife Lorraine for their fantastic support. I wish the club every success for this season and the future.”

I love how a few numpties on here are trying to make those who did want a change and fresh ideas feel bad about themselves. Adams quit for a reason, because he himself knows that performances and results have not been good enough for a while, and I'm not just talking about this losing streak!

He got the club promoted and while not always the easiest bloke to like you have to respect his accomplishments, and by quitting and allowing the club to look for someone knew who will hopefully revitalize the side we can or should all keep some respect the bloke.

Cheers Micky, you did the right thing and on the whole you can be very pleased with the job you did here.

Those saying be careful what you wish for and that thugs will be worse aren't looking at the league table or the form from Xmas. They only way we will be worse off is if we end up relegated in bottom position.

Respect for not waiting for pay off, though who knows what is agreed behind the scenes. Though it seems he has lost his fight.

Please not page, a new approach is needed, along with a formation or two. Write this season off, focus on surviving and building a new style ready for the next.

You really are a joke. Look at the form since Christmas. Nobody went for him, it's a message board in which people voice opinions, if your bored of it then do everyone a favour and **** off. How do you know that in 2 years we will be fighting for survival in league 2, what a stupid statement to make and complete guesswork. You may well be correct, in 2 years we could be fighting at the bottom of league two but we could have been if Adams stayed in charge to the end of the season, same as you don't know what the new manager can do with the team. We could easily be challenging at the top of the league. Adams has been great and been very good for vale but the last year not season was shocking, remember he was no sacked he resigned.

Well said. I go to all home games & a few away & I thought MA had had his time at Vale.

People wanting MA to stay, have u watched us this year? It's been excruciating at times & was obvious to all that MA had lost the will to put in the effort required.
