The current incumbent has us as the 142nd lowest goal scorers in the 144 team EFL+conference. Probably 144th next week. "There's no guarantee a replacement would be any better" is utterly meaningless, you could say that about anything. Why would I do that? Who's mentioned that? No one other than you, writing fantasies. All conjectured fantasy. 142/144 goals scored is reality. Vale in the drop zone is reality. Burton brining in 4 forwards in January including a lad from Man Utd is reality. Vale bringing in absolutely no one and now suffering for it is reality.18 points

I'll renew mine. Football is my release. Vale are my club. I've no interest in removing Carol from the club and she isn't monetarily profiting from the club, so withholding funds will only hurt the club and the team further. I held money from Smurthwaite and MOLD, but this is a completely different battle imo.18 points

This is such a lazy trope. David Flitcroft is not the only person in the universe capable of being PVFC's DOF despite the apparent infatuation with him. Given he'd never done it before, literally anybody with previous EFL managerial experience is as qualified as he was when she hired him.13 points

For the first time in umpteen seasons, sadly I'm seriously considering NOT renewing mine and the wife's season tickets. Not because of the fact that we may be in L2 yet again, but because I find it totally demoralising we're parting with our hard earned brass, so that a stark failure of a DoF can squander it yet again, in exactly the same fashion that his last two years track record has demonstrated, I know this isn't positively supporting the club and harms the club, but really I,like many others, can't afford to waste money for the reward of feeling utterly depressed and miserable, after watching defeat after defeat The hype, national coverage and massive over positivity which was fanfared post promotion, had me and many others hooked, as we were sold a ridiculous notion that Port Vale were on an upward trajectory, backed by the prospect of a professional, business set up and the pledge of making new memories . Well that aged well, didn't it? We now certainly have new memories, but not ones that we'll treasure. So I guess there's a part of me that feels a little embarrassed at been taken for a fool for buying in to all that, but I'm also angry at the clubs failure to address the situation that has been allowed to fester while seemingly, being in total denial of it, as demonstrated as an example, by that bizarre open letter, which was always going to back fire. Anyway, that's it.11 points

I've always renewed, irrespective of what league we're in, so relegation has little to do with it. For me it's not about not backing or supporting the Vale, but more a case of handing over a large amount of money in financially tough times, to be wasted in such a way that has resulted in creating a weaker squad for two consecutive years, while seeing no rational explanation for it, or any action of accountability. While 14th place wouldn't be settling the world alight, most would see it as steady progress, coupled with a degree of stability, however the DoF has fallen short yet again and his decisions and performance is the sole reason for our situation. So I agree, not many people would give a stuff about Flitcroft if we were 14th, because most would recognise that as being not great, but acceptable Still, I guess the phrase is "We go again" eh!? Even though its with blinkered optimism. One final point, is that not a single one of us take any satisfaction in feeling the need to express anything negative about our club, because we all love the Vale11 points

Of all the reasons not to renew for any fan of any club, not doing it because of where you stand to urinate for 30 seconds is quite something.10 points

What does that actually mean? What is the tangible benefit to PVFC that money that could and should have gone towards staying in L1 is instead earmarked for a second set of changing rooms (vanity project) and a new office on the training pitch (vanity project) The club is running before it can walk. Fiddling while Rome burns. Cart before the horse. Any related idiom you can think of is demonstrably, evidentially true of the club's actions this season.8 points

This is the crux of the issue. I think some posters ( wrongly in my opinion) drag off field CAPEX and infrastructure investments as an indication of not investing in the 1st team. I do think fans forget at times what a shell of a club Carol inherited and really started at rock bottom. In order to grow the value of the club and long term future those investments have to be made. Irrespective of investments we have a competitive 1st team budget, however it’s been wasted on players in their prime and senior players who are simply not good enough. Our DoF is responsible for recruitment and should be accountable like a manager is accountable for results.7 points

Herein lies the problem she cannot see. She can have all the infrastructure she wants but without a competitive football team, there will simply be no football club. The fans are the lifeblood and she’s turning them away. The plan of bringing through kids is naive at very best. At our level this can only be done IF you have a minority of them with quality operators around them. The fans are making their voices heard and her pathetic open letter just put more coal on the fire. The question Carol Shanahan has to ask herself is this……. Does she value David Flitcroft MORE than she values the fanbase? If that answer is yes then I will suggest that her agenda is not good for Port Vale Football Club and only good for Carol Shanahan.7 points

But the issue isn't about relegation or survival. It's about Flitcrofts protracted failure in improving what touches a football. If we're are to survive it'll be despite him, not because of him. I'll be there on Saturday and every home game between now and the end of the season, cheering, not booing, hoping that we can get the points that'll guide us to safely, even if the performance is crap. Avoiding relegation won't exonerate DF's record of failure or influence whether I trust him with my season ticket money.6 points

How on earth can you not go on Saturday? These back 2 back games are our season decider and you turn your back on the team/club when they really need you. Strange attitude.6 points

It's remarkable how consistently wrong you are about everything! Div 2 - 41 seasons Div 3 - 47 seasons Div 4 - 23 seasons6 points

Yes after sixty odd years of supporting Vale it feels so much worse this time maybe after the euphoria of Wembley! I don’t know ! There are quite a lot of people who feel the same. I think we have thrown away lots of potential with the extra support we gained. Sadly I can only see us with half the support of the last couple of seasons. We do have a fantastic hard core but we desperately need the more fickle fans to swell the coffers! Nobody wants to see us loose game after game .6 points

I moan but still renew our x2 ST's. However, this current situation is different. It feels as though as a fan base that we are being overlooked whilst DF has carte blanche to do as he sees fit. There are major concerns with the first team, recruitment has been abysmal but this appears to be insignificant to Carol and the board. There is an arrogance about the place where we as knowledgable fans go unheard to a large degree (we don't own the club and are not £12/ 15M light I guess?) It simply is not good enough, in the past we were fighting owners and were unified in that goal for the good of the club. Now, we have superb owners who we now begin to 'question'. The key is why do I and many others feel this way? We are still protective of the club and appreciate the Shanahan's - but what we see now is a threat to the club from a different direction. "It's all smoke and mirrors" with DF imo and will not end well for any of us, more so the owners financially. To be continually overlooked and ignored when pointing out obvious issues leads me to question my attendance.6 points

I think choosing not to renew your season ticket because you are not enjoying going to games is fair enough. Football clubs don't have a god given right to your cash That's a different way of framing it to protesting against the DOF and / or owner6 points

I'll be renewing mine purely because it gives me a free pass from the Mrs every other week and a 12 hour session with no questions asked 🍻 Basically, if I was single I wouldn't be renewing 🤣 up the Vale ⚫️⚪️⚫️⚪️6 points

I’m DEFINITELY not renewing until Carol sells up. Takes us fans for granted and has single handed ruined all the promotion momentum. Sells every player going and doesn’t replace them. Does not deserve our support and if you think I’m handing over hundreds of pounds to piss in a portaloo think again. Carol out!5 points

This season was my 50th season ticket. Unless someone invents a Vale-otine patch to wean me off this addiction I think I’m stuck with it5 points

If we were 14th Flitcroft would have done his job properly recruiting a capable squad.5 points

So we should stick with DF then? Are you still happy that we’ve invested so much off the pitch and not focussed on the pitch? I remember you explaining so vicariously how much more important our off the field improvements were. Well this is the result. So if you have an employee who is poor in their role, never turn up calling in sick all the time ect, you shouldn’t sack them as the replacement might be just as bad? That’s not how it works. DF should be removed for poor performance. It’s then up to Carol to ensure a suitable replacement is appointed.5 points

I will always renew my season ticket - this is my club and I take the rough with the smooth - thats what its all about really VTID .5 points

I will hold my hands up and admit I didn't renew this season due to being buggered about summat rotten with the move from the Bycars to the Hamil (and I was really looking forward to it) - utter farce worthy of Frank Spencer. For me now, and I resonate with some of the other comments, in terms of buying back in with a ST for next season, it comes down to two separate issues: 1. having had a year of being able to pick and choose what I want to do on a Saturday afternoon, it comes down to entertainment - Im sick of watching utter utter utter drivel on the pitch. 2. being fed up with utter bull in terms of press releases, DOF comedy sketches (oh, sorry, I mean Fan Forums) and "naughty boy" letters off the owner (WTF was she thinking). Number 1 on its own I could probs cope with (it is the the vale after all) Number 2 on its own I could probs cope with (after all we have had some bigger Bell@nds in the past) Number 1 coupled with number 2, you know what, I will pass thank you very much The vale have been my team since 1978, but next season Leek Town are getting my money - its a really sad state of affairs - If people have made it through the Smurthwaite era, but are now voting with their feet - something must be REALLY wrong. And for the record, I love each and every one of you beautiful bouncing valiants (even that noisy beggar Corban 😍😍😍😉😉)5 points

I agree, seen it all before. But for some reason feels worse this time around. It may be because of the huge potential that has been thrown down the pan by Carols insistence on backing DF. Just feels worse this time around.4 points

I'm renewing, my support for the Vale is unconditional win or lose sickness and health for better or worse, you don't switch it on or off when it suits or you throw your toys out of the pram and have a tantrum when things don't go right...UTV Sent from my SM-A217F using onevalefan mobile app4 points

I'll be renewing regardless of league. People acting like we've never been in league 2 before even though it's where we spend the majority of our time 😂4 points
-
I will actually be getting a ticket for the first time in a long long time. Living in Liverpool, and family/work commitments used to mean I couldn't get to games and this season I've been at games with or without the kids. It's only Feb and I've spent £300 on league match tickets at home and I'm likely to be at the majority of the ones to come too. Financially it's a no-brainer for me, if I'm going to be going to the games like I have been.4 points

This is it, they are going for it. About a month ago, maybe two I thought that maybe we'd be safe as there would be 4 worse sides than us. I'd say maybe two now, and both have beaten us in their own backyard3 points

I'll be renewing in the Railway Paddock but am desperately hoping that it'll be in league 1 and not league 2.3 points

I will renew though I’m unhappy with the recruitment policy, the state of the facilities in paddock . i cannot let one cockwomble stop me supporting vale . Yes I will work to get the cockwomble out of the club but not just yet as we got a chance of staying up . As fans we need to unite get behind the lads as stop this moaning .
