It's not even like it's been one problem position (e.g. strikers).

If you take goalkeeping, it took four signings (Covolan, Stone, Holy, Stevens) before we finally arrived at Ripley. 

Using just that goalkeeping position alone, surely you must ask questions of whoever is looking at recruitment if four out of five signings for a position don't work out?

I also think we have missed Forrester at the back. He wasn't a world beater but had potential albeit with the odd mistake in him, and we sold him to Bolton, presumably for a quick buck, We've then had two poor signings in Balmer and Iacovitti brought in who aren't up to the standard of the player they replaced.

I've defended Flitcroft and Crosby as they can only work with what they have been given to spend, but that is absolutely shocking.

I may have missed some but I reckon these are the players we've signed since 1st January 2023. 

Of those players only Clarke and Mighten aren't central players (cb, cm or cf) and only Mighten and Thomas have any pace. That for me is the biggest failure for a team that have no full/wing backs or pace in the squad.

I really do thinkthat whilst not ideal we may have coped without a striker in Jan if we had just signed some bloody full backs.

You get what you pay for is the saying, our mishmash of free transfers combined with minimum wage salary can only go 1 way in league one and it isn't up

How many of our squad will go on to play in this division when we go down. Garrity and Ripley at a push, maybe Plant if someone takes a punt on him.

Ojo is the only player we signed with the quality for this division and now even he looks disinterested.

No point in slating managers or the DOF in my opinion, this is down to money or rather in our case a lack of it. You can't shop in Harvey Nicks with a Lidl budget. Be nice if they showed some fight though and looked like they cared !

I think it's more important to look at the players they replace each season and do they improve the squad;

A lot easier to improve on lower mid-table League Two players than it is to improve on promotion-winning League Two or lower mid-table League One players.

However you look at it recruitment has been poor for a long time.

Question is: If you had the chance to sign them again, who would you sign of the x23?

For me: (7) which is (3) as we'll never attract the likes of Arblaster/ Devine again. Ripley and Chislett will be gone also.

"Phenomenal" Flickers is the man. The fan base areall wrong. Sad to see, sad to comment on. It was not supposed to be like this under the Shanahan's. Awful situation for the owners, hammered financially and worse is to come imo. Sad.

Sadly over the last 3 windows we have gone backwards not forwards
