Shame they couldn’t have invaded the pitch in the second half when we’re invariably winning 1-0 and looking comfortable (only to change tactics, make bad substitutions and concede late on). A valid claim to award us the three points then

Difficult today

Reading had 900 in midfield

This is what happens when you bring in quality in the ilk of Jensen Weir.

How many injuries have we picked up?

Get them relegated. They’ll just keep doing it.

Their fans have just said they will keep doing this.

When?

No…again how is that fair to us? Anything could happen in the time between now & the resumption (assuming it’s not imminent) i.e. injuries to key players.

Also, fans paid to watch 90 mins of football, so again how are they compensated?

I’m sorry - whatever the moral rights or wrongs - the fact of the matter is that their fans have deliberately caused a game to be abandoned and that surely is the same as forfeiting it?

Yes, but this the EFL we are dealing with 🤯🤪😱

Reading's owner has got the club deducted 16 points in the last three seasons. They'll be deducted more when the obcensenly wealthy owner's cheques continue to bounce.

I think tbh Reading fans are more concerned about their 152 year old football club being ran into non-existence by a man who has done it multiple times with other clubs than the fact their protest has cost Vale fans the chance to see a football match this afternoon

They wouldnt replay it then

Why not?

Play the remaining 73 minutes

Would have to be more than that. A fair amount of the first 16 mins was stoppages to pick up tennis balls.

Why?

Because the reading fans should have protested outside the ground instead of inside hence this causes the game to be cancelled therefore Vale should be awarded the. 3 points , in my opinion.

Very sorry to all the attending fellow vale fans but...

STATEMENT MADE. I commend the fans who went on the pitch. It wasn't too long since we were in trouble shouting black and gold until its sold outside lorne Street and showing red cards won't do anything, to get a poisonous owner out of the club you need to hit the owner where it hurts,  I.e their pockets they'll get fined for this, and I guarantee if that persists every week they won't stay very long that is a given.

Listen I'm not saying it should be a given at every club to take such action if you are unhappy with the owner but if you feel that strongly as a collective group then that's one way to do it unfortunately today we were  a martyr in their strategy.

Also they made the EFL look like buffoons is it not clear yet proper checks need to be made so that they have the fans best interest at heart, I'm not saying that's easily provable but tighter checks and interview processes surely would go a long way to rectify this.

You're talking about anowner who hasn't paid staff over Christmas etc and the fans have had enough, and that's just listening to fans on a radio station  - if I was sat in a pub there would be many more stories and perspectives. You can tell there is a big passion for their club.  Does the club still even own their stadium?, Does that sound familiar?!

Yet again,  travelling valiants sorry that the game wasn't completed but enjoy your weekend and hope you do get reimbursed.

What would you have liked them to do?

This is a dangerous precedent - abandoning then replaying. What stops fans (home or away) now invading the pitch whenever the result isn’t going their way knowing they’ll get a second bite at the cherry to get abetter result?

A 20pt deduction? Therefore 3pts won't cut it.

Today, I feel Reading FC have died. Now they face a points deduction, and certain relegation. That in itself is a bonus to every other team that they are one position safer. Look at it from Exeter's (or any other club's point of view), why should Vale get 3points just because we were lucky enough to play Reading today?

The relegation and maybe an ensuing administration would see a massive points deduction. It happened to Luton, was it 30points they were docked? They were down before a ball was kicked.

Just look at how soulless their (which they don't own I don't think - rumours) stadium is. They are done as a professional club for a good decade now.

What a day.

And to top it all, our good friends from Swindon are losing 🤔

It's happened a few times before and the clubs never got anywhere near the punishment you are suggesting

There has never been a deliberate,  orchestrated attempt to get a game abandoned.  The only incident in any way a precedent was an end of season game involving Blackpool about 10 years ago. For that game there was no replay and I think the FA ruled that Blackpool lost 1 0 as that was the time of the abandonment.  That one wasn't arranged in advance, it was spontaneous.
