Disgusting now.

50 fans ? Get them removed. It is an offence.

My guess is the match will be replayed. The fair thing would be to do it at Vale Park, so Vale fans who travelled don't have to go to Reading midweek. I suspect Reading will get an unprecedented points deduction,  20 or even 25 points. This has never happened before and they need to ensure it doesn't again.

The point about ownership is valid. The issue is owners tend to come in and splash the cash initially.  At some point for all but the biggest clubs they realise there isn't a profitable business. The money then dries up and it snowballs. FFP doesn't work as initially owners get around it by finding ways to inject money within the guidelines.  Clubs are then saddled with high running costs, which their revenue just can't support

It was looking like it could have been a good game as Reading and Vale were getting chances on goal.  Reading fans are now wanting the fans off the pitch now and they are not moving either.

So yes it is all looking like this will be stopped.  A replay may be sorted out behind closed doors no doubt at their ground as part of the punishment - which is hard on the travelling Vale fans.  They will not play at Vale Park and stop their fans travelling to Vale Park.

Could see Reading fans being banned from attending home and away matches very soon if protests keep on.

This isnt about FFP or who gets the 3 points though, the issue is the EFL's worthless ownership requirements which allow rogue owners to tear the heart out of decent clubs.

As usual, its the fans that suffer.

Disagree. There is no reason to get our fabs mixed up in this.

I disagree, the Black and Gold demo's never affected another club or it's fans, who pays for overnight travel expenses, who pays for any future costs, when the game is replayed, I have every sympathy for Reading supporters but I don't think it should affect Port Vale.
Demonstrate and disrupt by all means but don't disrupt a fellow league club.

Totally agree, especially if we only get a point for the abandonment.

Good point that, you’re probably right.

There's no way any points will be allocated to this debacle. The usual league position is to count it as an abandoned game to be replayed.  IMO the EFL has no alternative as far as any result is concerned.

Whether further sanctions are placed on Reading, it remains to be seen. But surely it cannot be ignored or condoned? However,  if no action is taken, it will set a precedent that well and truly lets the cat out of the bag and would encourage similar behaviour by fans' in the future!

The EFL will have to do something quite severe. Otherwise we are looking at a precedent and it will happen again.

Maybe they'll install an owner with a history of leading football clubs to bankruptcy? Oh wait

Absolute joke this.

Just imagine if Vale only get a point.  That will set a precedence for clubs needing a point to stay in the league, their fans will come onto the pitch and get it abandoned and secure their safety.  Needs to be 3 points issued to Vale.

Is there a limit to how long the delay has to be before the game cannot be restarted?  It will soon be an hours since this all started....

The BBC report on the Oldham invasion said that “Protests remained in place for some time after, but once the pitch had been cleared, the teams returned to play out the remaining time behind closed doors.”

But that won't happen!

pretty sure that this will be played to a conclusion today once the fans have left the stadium

1 point would be no good for our play off push.
