Why do people think we'll be awarded a point? It's not our fault. Reading knew this was likely to happen yet let fans in. Abandon it, award us the 3.0 win, deduct them however many points are appropriate, and play the rest of the season behind closed doors. Can't believe the EFL are taking so long to call it.

It’s the EFL. See their Fit & Proper ownership test is working well again.

For SURE Reading shouldn't be given the opportunity to gain EITHER one or three points after today's events IMO....

So a replay is fair on the 900 or so Vale fans who’ve travelled, the club and players how exactly….?

Good to have picked up a clean sheet at least

But we also failed to score 😬

Just been abandoned and the EFL should now give us the 3 points.  Can see it being replayed behind closed doors and we will loose the match.

Can only see their fans doing this at every home game now.  At away games they will throw tennis balls onto the pitch at the 16 minute point.

We might lose the match, but will Reading let their fans run loose on the pitch again 😉

There's no way any points will be allocated to this debacle. The usual league position is to count it as an abandoned game to be replayed.  IMO the EFL has no alternative as far as any result is concerned.

Whether further sanctions are placed on Reading, it remains to be seen. But surely it cannot be ignored or condoned? However,  if no action is taken, it will set a precedent that well and truly lets the cat out of the bag and would encourage similar behaviour by fans' in the future!

This is a dangerous precedent - abandoning then replaying. What stops fans (home or away) now invading the pitch whenever the result isn’t going their way knowing they’ll get a second bite at the cherry to get abetter result?

We did but the ref disallowed it 😬

Just got to car but told cannot leave until 5.30.  !!  Absolute shambles.

I suspect Reading will get an unprecedented points deduction,  20 or even 25 points. This has never happened before and they need to ensure it doesn't again.

It's happened a few times before and the clubs never got anywhere near the punishment you are suggesting

I feel for Reading - my guess there will be some sort of charge of failing to keep their fans under control, but they had to start the game, they probably (I hope) recruited more plod just in case, since stewards are bog all use, but if hundreds of fans want to get on the pitch, they will.  Most right minded fans would have wanted to have a go at winning 3 points - this has just dug them deeper into the pit.  Rotten for SVA to go all that way for 16 minutes and hour standing around waiting to be told what was going on before abandonment.

Get out of your car and sit on the road !!!

Googling for what might happen next doesn’t present many clear answers. There’s an example of a Blackpool game abandoned on 48 minutes where the result was allowed to stand, but others where there was either a replay from the start, or a continuation from the time of abandonment.
Contextual factors are likely to play a part in an EFL judgement I guess - I suspect a relegation confirming points deduction and a big fine for Reading, at the very least, but it’s anyone’s guess on how the EFL will call a result or replay.

Don't disagree with your comment.  But what's the alternative?
