FA Cup changes

It's as if they're trying to kill the competition.

It's so obvious that they only care about maximising eyeballs (and therefore commercial revenues) on the latter stages, and it's massively beneficial for the FA if they 'big' teams make it through. Ironically, by scrapping replays they increase result variance and therefore we would expect more Premier League teams to go out in the 3rd and 4th rounds when they play weaker sides and don't have the safety net of a replay.

It's all about protecting the poor top level players and teams from having too many games, to the clear detriment of the lower league clubs. Gone are the days it seems where a NL battling draw at home against a big boy would result in a massive well earned windfall for the small team.

I'd get it, to an extent, if the PL teams didn't have 80+ players on their books. They can easily rotate to give players a rest (if they need it) and blood some youngsters or fringe players who just might step up to the mark if given a chance. But they don't want to.

I'd suggest a nationwide boycott from supporters if they bring this in, but the continued attendance of many at EFL Trophy games (including frankly sickening levels of attendance at recent finals) shows that on the whole we're a spineless lot. Suppose we get what we deserve by voting for U21 teams in that competition. They'll continue to steamroll us until we're in the National league, with Bournemouth reserves playing in league 1. These changes are simply a continuation of giving in to the Premier League for a couple of extra grand a year.
