Just watched Harretts goal for the nth time. The sequence of 6 passes from Gibbo in defence via Pett, Worral, Garrity, Wilson & Benning to Harratts head is sublime. Would more than grace a top premier league game.  Haven't seen a sequence of passes this good by Vale since McCarthys goal against Everton. Fantastic.

That goal against Everton.... McCarthy skinning Abblet just over the half way line... The run down the wing, the cross...   Sooo Good...

Watching it back (again) it was Hawkins who was closest to both Harratt and Wilson in for their goals. Head clearly gone for the silly sending off not long after.
We've put 9 past Mansfield this season, big defensive changes needed for them to challenge at the top next year.  That Harratt goal at home came from three of them going to head the same ball, missing it and leaving him in miles of space at the back. Clough should be very angry with some of the switched off ball watching on show.
Their fans were class, hopefully someone posts the Clarke interview where he, overwhelmed, thanks them for the 8th minute support on their forum. Good luck to them next year; apart from one idiot throwing a flare into the Vale end, the sportsmanship between the two clubs and sets of fans has been class.

I think he should be more angry with himself for getting his tactics so completely and obviously wrong. Shocking to give our wing backs the freedom of Wembley

Without being cocky I felt confident.

Mansfield are good at home but just can't defend. Why say after the match that you were going to sub Hawkins at HT cos he was on a booking? Why pick a player who was left out of a few games cos he was on 14 bookings? Poor management.

I thought Gibbo and Benning would have more defending to do cos neither Barry or McTurdy tracked back. How wrong was I?

Both Gibbo and Benning went forward at will, even Hall did in the second half.

When was the last time we scored 3 goals from crosses? And the first goal vs Swindle was from a cross. Wozza looks like a new player

That was my feeling too and Clough often has a brain fart where he plays a ridiculous team. Playing such a narrow midfield against our formation was a disaster waiting to happen and the lad who got sent off was a disaster from the off. I believe he was originally a striker and it showed!

Anyway, we executed our game perfectly and even if we were against 11 I think we would have won.

Agreed. It was 2-0 and we'd hit the post already.

Taylor and Benning could have scored,2 disallowed goals. On another day it could have been more.

Taylor and Pett compliment each other in MF,the back 3 are mobile giving Wozza and Benning the chance to get forward.

Wilson...pure class...4 in 4. Such a great first touch. If he gets more close range goals, then he's your 20 goal a season striker.

All of em were a 7/10 minimum on Saturday

Watching the highlights for the 237th time and it has just struck me how much the lads played like stone cold murderers. Watch it after the first two goals and half time, they give themselves a minute to celebrate and then it's back to business before they even start walking to our half.

So impressive given the pressure of the day and especially given the regular season run in must still have been on their mind to a point.

What a <ovf censored> unbelievable team.
