...truth is ( in my humble opinion ) we are struggling to sign players

Why? Why would we be? We've just got promotion - in fine style at Wembley! We are increasing our fan base and our reputation for looking after players is becoming well known? All positives - so why would we be struggling? We started off 3 weeks behind other teams due to not knowing which Leaguie we needed to recruit for...but that's the only negative bit!

No one is expecting a glut of signings and no one is expecting them to happen overnight.

Sit down for a minute then because it’ll come as a shock what I’m about to tell you.  I personally know some fans who do, and the reason they do is simply because other teams have done so.  Sorry if that’s a bit too much for you to fathom.

No, I don't get it either. If we haven't signed anyone by the start of the season I'll be miffed, but no point stressing at the moment.

We’ve got 3 weeks to the start of the season. Our strength last year (according to Clarke and the players in interviews) was the bonding and togetherness of the squad. Which was initially built up in preseason. Clearly preseason  is the ideal time for that and the later the signings are the less time they have to gel.

It seems that this season in particular requires a nuanced approach because of the different circumstances.

I guess it's much easier to get behind the Micky Adams gruff and blunt run em into the ground approach!

As Carol said, there's alot of doubters in the football world about the notion of looking after players, so no wonder fans have doubts too.

From the recent history, there's one thing I am certain of, and that is that everyone will be working tirelessly to create the best possible set up for the coming season.

Would of thought we would of got the squad together before we went to Spain? Clarke has always said Its better to get your squad together early giving them time to gel. Well every manager always says that. Now we're on about signing players at the last minute and it's a good thing. Not sure what's going on. Trying to stay patient. Perhaps at this level it's not all about presentations and more to do with cold hard cash.

Its easier for players to come in a gel with an already tight nit group that has a good bond than a group of 20 players who haven't played with eachother before everyone needs to chill all we be good

Clarke confirms we're looking to sign 6-7 players before August 31st. Also confirms that things are taking longer than expected. Some of those who pointed out that we weren't quite moving at the expected rate are in agreement with the club's view.

It's not a problem or a criticism - just a statement of fact! The condensed summer has left us behind schedule. It's been strange to see the hostility on this great forum towards those who have pointed this out! We're behind on pre season and behind on signings, and no amount of process can change that. People have been jumping through hoops to make out that the club is doing it intentionally (signed players but not announced them, being patient etc), when in reality we're just starting 10 yards behind the rest.

As always, the signings will come, we just might not be 100% by the first game. I guess it's each fans own view on whether this is a good or bad thing. Clarke will see us right.
