Summer transfer targets/rumours, retained list etc

Lucas seemed to be a lovely bloke and great character but he was far too erratic for me. Red cards apart, some of his general play had my heart in my mouth at times. I'd much prefer a steadier figure at the back.

For me, this summer's business has echoes of last summer now. There's been no sentimentality in the departure of fringe players like Cov, Amoo and Hurst with the club clearly looking for upgrades in the higher division. 

I would also say that if the two brought in (Ojo and Cass) show the sort of high quality additions the club are looking at. I'd just urge some patience if new additions don't arrive in the next few days - there's plenty of time left in the window yet. Another three or four of Ojo/Cass class and we'll have a more than decent squad.

Agreed Jacko and Clarke got sent off once against Swindon too.

I'm gutted that he's been 'released/loaned' probably more so than any other player ever.  It's bizarre!

100% echo this.

All season I felt we needed a better keeper than the 3 we saw.  A weak area in my view.  No disrespect intended but apart from being somewhat erratic Cov wasn’t all that good, Holy was hopeless, confidence looked shot for some reason, Stone still pretty raw.

Basically the McKirdy red cost him his Vale career. Real moment of idiocy . Be freed in May .

Sad end to a bloke who divided opinion from the moment he was carded at Chesterfield. 

For me an excellent goalie who was a big part of our set up with the high press and distribution from the back.

Good luck Lucas absolute nut job but I hope he does well there .

I assume we'll still be paying a chunk of his wages while he's on loan there, otherwise they'd have just taken over his contract for the season.

Never really bought into the love for him personally. Didn’t think he was a great keeper and has a horrible error in him quite often. Cost us a lot of points in a short amount of games. Would have kept as number 2 as number 2 keepers rarely needed but guess he wants 1st team football. Wish him well as he seems a good bloke but I think that’s his level.

If we have already signed a keeper for heaven's sake announce it! If we haven't it makes no sense whatsoever to get rid of one of the only two keepers we have in the hope of signing somebody better!

I totally agree. He never seemed to make a save. I'm perplexed that people are gutted. He contributed to thrown away points but I'm scratching my head as to where he saved us points.

Seems to me the Club has identified who they want, but are maybe waiting for other clubs to make signings which will free up our choices.  I like the fact we're being patient, and I'm convinced a couple of marquee signings are yet to come.

I'll give you the Stevenage save. FGR and Swindon away I don't think he had that much to do did he? The defence was very good on both those occasions.

Happy to be proved wrong, but this misplaced thought that he's somehow a wonderful keeper who we are crazy to let go of, after playing half a very inconsistent and poorly disciplined season is strange in my opinion.
