He hasn’t used up a lot of the Budget so it shouldn’t affect the other signings still to come.

 

Think that's the key point on this, we've got an excellent player for low wages. The risk we take is that he's a completely crocked.

We basically have Holden in handcuffs, he knows he isn’t going to get anywhere else given his injury and we’ve taken advantage of it with (I guess) a low wage. If he gets fit we’re on to a winner, if not then no harm done and probably not a massive dent in the budget.

He has been out since February with a Broken Leg and Dislocated Ankle. Surely we aren’t after him.

Why? I read that article I don’t understand the issue. The players signed a contract on reduced terms, he isn’t playing so they aren’t paying him much. It’s actually no different to us offering Holden a low contract in reflection of him getting fit. If you think that our management dont operate in a similar way then you’d be mistaken. That’s football for you and shows there’s little loyalty in any aspect of the game.

The issue for me is Barton is speaking for the player, not the player speaking for himself. 

I'm sure the player doesn't want the manager to say for him - he think he should be on more money and his mind is on his career away from football. 

It's rude and disrespectful. 

Far better to just not answer the questions beyond general platitudes...

(sorry gone a bit off topic from Vale rumours there)

We've quoted no details about Holden's contract 

Barton has hinted at retirement for Rodman. Don't wash your dirty laundry in public. Some things don't need to be made public

There's zero chance hes match fit, he might have played in the Blackburn behind closed doors game in the week, but outside of that he won't have touched a ball in anger in 18ish months.
