Who should we sign?

I like Joyce when he's on the ball as he keeps it moving and intelligently finds space in front of the back four.

Where he isn't as good as a Grant/Griffith is when he hasn't got the ball and has to win headers and tackles to get it back. He isn't as physical, and that's why Kay played a few games. So I'm not sure if the balance of the midfield is right. But who knows who will start off in August?

It’s no use bringing loan players in if Askey isn’t going to play them.

The loan clubs won’t be happy if they aren’t getting regular football.

Just hope Sir John has used his contacts to line up a few nuggets.

Really Garlick should be advising Askey on how to spend the budget and not wasting it.

I am sure Sir John with his connections can recommend some good loans if Askey is willing to listen to him.

Don’t really rate Joyce. I know he was good under askey but I saw more than enough under aspin that makes me worried. I personally hope crookes is the cover and we sign a left back as montano can’t play there. Clark would be a good signing so we have cover both sides.

 

You could argue Worrall as the same as Joyce though... both turned their season around once Askey came in.

 

Overall we need some quality now. Cullen and Amoo would be decent and a full back be it Clark or someone else, aside from that an attacking midfielder would be good as well as the obvious keeper requirement.

 

Aside from that a replacement for Rawlinson if he goes although from social media Ben at least seems keen to stay and fight.

With narly 350 games under his belt as a manager, I suspect Askey may already have an inkling how to manage a budget?

I can understand why you don't rate Joyce he was awful under Aspin, but then I can make a case for EVERY player under him with his awful tactics. I not particular keen on Monty long term at LB either but he can do a job if needed.Ironically he was the only player he looked better under Aspin for a short spell when he switched him to LB - That was until he told him in pre season he wanted him at CB:doh:

I think this is the difference between now and previous seasons.I don't think they will be possibly 1/2 max but they will have to be good enough to compete for a 1st team place and not just sit in the stands and play reserves to make up numbers.

Wasting the budget on Lloyd is money thrown away which could be used to signing a better quality first team player.

We already have players to cover the Lloyd position so why bother.

Are they worried announcing the Lloyd signing will put people off buying season tickets.

At least IC will be happy with such a underwhelming signing so he can rub it in.

May as well keep Whitfield instead.

Yes but mainly as Macclesfield in non league.
