Match Thread - Port Vale v Stevenage

Bounce back from a set back, 4 points over Easter would be great, I think an Easter double is beyond us with a trip to MK. Learn from mistakes, and a need to quickly settle down defensively. Injuries apart a tweek to keep us fresh over the weekend and mathematically safe.

If results go well on Friday then we may be able to play without pressure on Monday and at least MK will be going for a win and not parking the bus.

Let's hope for a "Good Friday" and it's not us needing to park the bus.

Lets hope we finish the season with 4 very good performances not with 5-0 defeats .

Team well your as good as your last game .

So we aint very good at all .

Team aint the foggiest but defo need a big performances on good friday as folk who do not usually go may go and if you want them come back the service has to be top notch not as poor as and it looks like they cannot be bothered .

Time for Askey to try to win this game by playing two up front with Pope and Miller from the start. No need to play one up front at home.Start by pushing them from the start. As we lost at Exeter no excuse for playing the same team.

Tough game this as Stevenage have always been hard to play against. They have had some excellent results the last couple of games following on from a dire couple of results so seem inconsistent.

Stevenage and FGR are the only teams currently in the EFL,including the Prem, that Vale haven’t beaten in a League match, according to a mate of mine.

We’ve been playing 4-3-3,Ernie.The two supporting players have been playing further forward.Same team for me.Bring Pope on when their defence is knackered.

Joyce for Kay is the only change I would consider, but I'm not that fussed which one of them plays as long as it's not both of them together.

Joyce and Legge for Kay and Howkins, HAS to be done! No room for sentiments or feeling sorry for whoever.

Having read all the threads, I really think it's more that people WISH Howkins was as good as last season. Where as facts are, he did fine against a Crewe team, that played in a way, for him to excel. But looked like a poor mans Callum Howe last week, against Exeter.

And Kay who did well against Crewe, but was dire against Exeter, which his (very unlike Askey) early sub, put a big fat line under.

He is the definition of inconsistent! But even when he's good, he's slower than my 85 year old granddad on a good day.

Don't think it's fair to drop Hoskins after one poor game. If you did that you could drop the whole team, except Browny following last weeks performance

We have supposed to be playing 4-3-3 but how many times has Miller been isolated up front same as Pope. With both Pope and Miller up front it gives Miller chance to feed off Pope and cause havoc in their defence.

It’s pathetic that we only play one up front marked by two defenders at home.

If the opposition full backs push up Worrall and Montano are pushed back into midfield

No way should Howkins be dropped! He will form a very good defensive partnership with Smudger so please give him some time mate.
