Match Thread: Grimsby Town v Port Vale

Recommended Posts

Possibly our next game if the snow stops blowing in from the North Sea, could be a bit nippy in the upper tier at Blundell Park. Without Pope we need to weld a new strike force, I would give Turner ago. Certainly an important game, against a club I expect to be relegated, so only 3 points is acceptable.

Will the players be able to handle the pressure now.

Wonder if not having Pope in the team and having to try something different will work for us. Teams know all they have to do is double mark Pope and the long balls to him fail.

Hope so, April could be harder if not sorted before.

They’ve got a new manager (don’t think he was in charge today) and they’ve not won since the start of December so they’re bound to beat us which would be a disaster if results went against us elsewhere. A draw with results going our way wouldn’t be too bad.

Strangely, Michael Jolley (their new manager) used to be a stock trader in New York and was caught up in the 9/11 attacks. He also slept with an underage girl whilst he was a coach at Falkirk; in fairness he was out at a nightclub and took her home so he wasn’t apparently aware she was only 15.

Does he come from Crewe?

They beat us in Aspo's first game in charge. Time for revenge. Time for Barnett to live up to his words from the interview last week. Time for Forrester to actually do something useful. As Micky says, time for them all to liven themselves up.

If there was one person on this forum I would like Aspin not to take note of it would be you.

I've always liked the look of Forrester if he wasn't made of glass. I think he can pinch a few goals particularly with someone quick playing nearby.

Barnett has been a donkey all his career.

Thanks for your reply emile and no problem at all with your comment .

This is what forums are about .

A difference of opinion .

I dont play fifa this or that .

I dont do football manager etc as hate all gaming as i just want throw the damn thing at the wall.

I do care about Vale and i feel playing a injured player since whenever he has had it as had a negative impact on the team.

The performances have generally being one of a team who are going through the motions .

How sad last sat i watched Leicester v Stoke on me sky and stoke showed all the qualities required stay up (they will i feel) ,yet Live Port Vale v Newport what was that .

Every player has to run harder ,play every game like losing is not a option .

Given the importance of the game, it would be good to see a big Vale following there next Saturday.

No chance. Vale's support outside a 40-mile radius is wxnk.

Like most clubs.

Not the case at all in my opinion. We're good for anything in the Greater Manchester area but we don't travel in significant numbers anywhere else unless we're doing really well.

No win in 15 games (Dec 9th their last), 4 points from a possible 45, rock bottom of every form table & I'm still worried.

Looking forward to it though, another new ground for me, & these games being called off are giving me withdrawals.

I know what you mean, I can see us going there and being a charity case and handing them the points.

We need to win. I'd go with.

-------------------------Boot------------------------

Gibbons -- Howkins -- Smith -- Montano

--------------------Tonge -- Pugh----------------

Worrall ----------- Whitfield --------- Hannant

------------------------ Forrester ---------------------

But to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if Aspin was more cautious and he went with Davis and Barnet instead of Gibbons and Forrester repectively.
