Tbf I've backing Yates here but I was very critical of Pope and Boot

 

I think this is more an issue of basic human decency, a bit of common sense, and a thank you to a decent servant through the club's darkest period. Somehow, people value a new back up right back above all of the above.

 

Nobody is trying to stifle opinion here. The diference between you and others who criticised Pope, Boot and Kay is that all have been pleased to say they have seen the players come good. We all call it wrong - including me - and if we do, we admit it - except for one poster who right now is revelling in all this attention.

 

The money thing for a new fullback is a joke, given that Yates wage is so pitiful, and that Smurf wasted a massive fortune on Bruno and his rubbish players and still has multi-millions to spare. A complete diversion.

It's not just sentiment (although what is wrong with that). I appreciate he is now ******, but a fit Adam Yates could have done a job Sat. No world beater, but has done a good job for us at this level.

The lack of basic humanity towards Adam Yates displayed on this thread makes me feel a bit ashamed to be a Vale fan to be honest. Well at least associated with those who post loudest on here.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I would say this. CG says he won't discuss a players contract in the media, and that's dead right!

 

For all we know, Yates may have requested settlement of his contract to enable him to sign for another club. He could be having any sort of discussions with the club. I think people are doing the club a huge disservice by immediately believing a Sky contact who tweets something out of the blue like this.

This is all hypothetical now CG has said he’s not spoken to Yatesy about his contract.

It could be because of his injuries he’s been advised by doctors to not play football again, heading a ball could be a problem.

If that’s the case I wouldn’t expect the club to offer him another contract just to give him a wage for a bit longer, but if this is the case then we should at least give him some sort of benefit game.

At least the club are continuing to fund his medical costs though this is probably covered by insurance.

After reading about the situation with Yates on here,I'm so disgusted with my football club if what Chris Birchall has tweeted is true. The club must clear the situation up as soon as possible, after all Adam was injured playing for Vale. I've followed Vale since the mid fifties and thought my club was decent in the past but this is disgraceful news, especially with Sky reporting on it.More bleeding bad publicity.
