Yates given free transfer? No, contract extended to end of season 2018...

What a truly sad thread to read.

We're all Vale aren't we? Apart from when an ACL tear is instantly followed by devastating facial injuries necessitating 2 intensive bouts of surgeries. Then we're 'trimming the fat', and we can't even offer you the low wage you're already on till you get a testimonial in the summer, as a sign of gratitude for playing for free in administration and not turning down the revised contract offers later that year, and then being part of a promotion squad.

But nah, apart from that, we're all Vale aren't we? Disgusting attitude by the usual suspects.

Where do you draw the line? Should Lee Matthews and Michael Walsh still be on contracts?

This is the real world. We’ve supported him quite rightly through 18 months of contract he was entitled where he hasn’t contributed in any real form to the first team and we are supporting him financially with his medical bills quite rightly.

Nah, just a lad who played for free in administration and played in the only promotion side I've seen should be offered another 6 months whilst his face is repaired from through being upside down work accident. Is that a fair line to draw, or are we trimming the 'fat'?

Or all this rubbish about him 'not contributing', like's he's pulled a sickie for 18 months, is not good mate. His knee was in tatters, and then his face got battered. He hasn't been able to contribute, but has contributed enough to this club for us to keep him in a steady wage till the summer, in my opinion. I don't even rate him.

Thankfully there is another poster with common sense on here!

I can't believe what I'm reading from some 'fans' over this treatment of a very good servant.

Comparing Yates to Lee Matthews? I didn't think you could get any dumber but even you have outdone yourself!

That's his fault too is it? You're vendettas against certain players, whilst tonguing certain others, are pretty distasteful really. Please stay in Australia.

Oh but he isn't in Australia - did you not see his posts telling everyother Vale fan they were wrong about goals he personally witnessed at Yeovil and Carlisle ? Until Jacko posted during the match to show himself, to come and say hello and then it all went quiet from that quarter, and even the most gifted person in the world, the all-knowing one, cannot be in 2 places at once.

But once again he has managed to divert the issue to himself - when what should be discussed is Yates treatment and his future, which is a million times more important.

And that’s why he’s been supported financially with contracts for 18 months and will be supported with medical treatment.

Perfect opportunity for him to take steps into coaching now if he wants to.
