Matchday Thread: Crawley Town v Port Vale

Please share your thoughts before, during and after the match as a new season opens. Always a mixture of hope and anxiety, half full and half empty glasses. Still short of a few players but a few weeks left, hopefully injuries will not be so severe this season. So all the best, Up the Vale.

Id go with Pope first half then stretch the opposition with Pyke second half .

Id go 5 at the back as been very solid is required ,think Pugh will get the nod in midfield so he will need Defrietases or Reeves legs to help him .

2NEW PLAYERS R required minimum this week who they r and what they can offer could be very pivotol and be very telling to what can be achieved if owt .

The bench will probably pick itself, I'm not against Adam Yates coming on at left back if whoever is there is getting slaughtered, at least he offers some limited experience there.

 

With there being a friendly in between though, I'd expect a couple of signings and maybe a fresh injury so who knows.

This 1st match should be there for our taking as Crawley are allegedly one of the weaker outfits. Vale need to get off to good start. Brown must have had enough time to work out where we need fresh faces as it's perilously close to the campaigns start. Any newbies have to integrate into his methods and thinking so surely he has players lined up? Going to be interesting to see if West Brom workout gives us a view of these required bodies.

IF fit Yates wold be better at LB than Gunning.

We have only played at Crawley 3 times in the league, in each of those meetings there has been at least 3 goals in each game. In fact every time we have played them there has been 3 or more goals. Are we expecting the usual high scoring game here even with it being the first game of the season?

 

I am going for Crawley 2 Vale 3.

I'd be reasonably happy with a point and if we get one I'd go for a 0-0. I think that it'll be a regulation 2-0.
