Matchday Thread: Crawley Town v Port Vale

Still nothing to convince me that Brown can think on his feet when it comes to in-game tactics. We were getting completely battered from 45 - 75 mins yet Browny simply swapped like for like instead of tweaking or changing the pattern of our game or shape. Make no mistake about it, a better team than Crawley (regarded as one of the weaker teams in the league) would've scored more than one for that relentless 30 mins of pressure. Too often last season we were overly negative away from home and Saturday was barely different. Don't get me wrong, it's great to have won the game and to score 3 on the road can never be sniffed at but the way we allowed them to dictate for long periods was worrying.

Very impressed by Kay. Wilson had one of the worst debuts I can remember - was he sedated? Pope's desire and organisation is something we sadly missed last season (although if he gets anywhere near 15 goals this season I'll be surprised) and Lainton looks like a very solid addition at this level.

Wycombe will be a far tougher test, though.

I love it when other teams moan after we beat them! Love it!

If we "only had set pieces to offer", were "very average" and win 3-1 away then I can't wait until the squad clicks and plays well!

I'll take this every game if it means we get out of this league I don't care about entertainment just points UTV

Points come from goals & not conceding, which in turn is entertainment (for the most part), so I'm happy with however we play really as long as it results in scoring!

exactly, lets be honest league 2 is anti football, we will have sides fighting for their lives turning up on a rainy tuesday with 1 up front, no intention of having a go and just hoping to steal a point. Being direct and having runners off Pope is going to be the way to combat most sides this year. Id be surprised if we see more than 5-6 football matches this year (Coventry, Lincoln, Mansfield, Luton and maybe a couple of others) then it depends on whether we have to try and do to them what the poorer sides will try and do to us. Either way a wins a win, doesnt matter how you win, only that you do!
