At the risk of getting back on topic and posting something about Vale I have heard from a usually well-informed source that one of those 3 named is all but signed but the club would like to make an announcement that covers more than one player.

It's been obvious from day 1 that Streete had ability, so to let him leave in this manner is amateurish once again. We are a shambles. We got it correct with Smith, although I dread to think if there is a release clause in his contract!

 

I think it's imperative to get 6-7 good players in on 2-3 year deals now and build a core at the club again. We can't keep having this kind of player turnaround each year with 20 in and 20 out every time.

 

Continuity and stability is KEY right now.

Not bad if all true! Hopefully Eagles takes the offer. Wouldn't mind either Purkiss or Yates, providing they're not on big money, for back up. Obviously would like Bikey & Foley, but the latter won't sign. Would like Walker, but not fussed about Shalaj/Taylor/Fasan. Guy is a shame, as could be a decent loan signing.

I can't see why a parent club would be in talks at this stage about loaning out players for next season. They'd be better off letting the player get away on holiday, come back, do a pre-season, assess where they are in terms of fitness and ability and then decide what level they think they should be loaning them to.

They are, I remember a couple of Notts Forest fans whinging at Uni when I called them just 'Forest'.

I always thought that too if the Notts in Notts Forest is short for Nottingham Forest(which is their full name) why isn't it Nottingham County for Notts County? Notts County is actually their official/full name.

I always thought Notts was just an abreviation of Nottingham or Nottinghamshire(ala the cricket team gets called Notts) or you'd address an envelope or letter with that on instead of writing it in full. I think I only questioned it once when they used to read the results out on 5 live or Final score and didn't say Nottingham County!

 

At least it makes more sense than Stockport County, since when as Stockport ever been a county!?
