Garlick : Manager statement

I'd look for a manager who had experience at a higher level and got a few promotions on his CV like Micky Adams did before he came to us.

For me we should be looking at the likes of Kenny Jackett, Nigel Adkins or Steve Cotterill. We would have to push the boat out to bring these types of managers in, but that is what we did with Micky Adams and the rest is history as the say.

At the end of the day the most important person at a football club is the manager, so we have to get it right this time after the last 3 disasters with opting for the cheapest option, which is why I'm not convinced at all with the likes of John Coleman or Gareth Ainsworth as it just seems like we are going for the cheap option again.

Maybe you are right. It is hard to judge what kind of a budget we would be operating on. We also do not know what those in charge are planning.

All day long on this message board fans have been discussing the lack of funds, so I ask the question where is the money coming from for an established football league manager?

All day long on this message board fans have been discussing the lack of funds, so I ask the question where is the money coming from for an established football league manager?

But if we went for a manager who is already in a job such as Coleman or Ainsworth we would have to not only pay for a manager in terms of wages but also compensation to their respective club, so if we have to pay compensation out wouldn't it be better to use this on a more experienced manager rather than gifting it to another club?

I don't know what the answer is as do none of us, but what I do know is that last season there have been plenty of empty boxes, advertising hoardings etc.. the season tickets are too expensive, so we need to make them more affordable to attract lost fans, we should be looking through the database of old ST holders who no longer attend and contacting them with offers to encourage them into attending again. All of these are missed opportunities to bring much needed additional funding into the club, which is basically the main thing that has been lacking since way before V2001 owned the club, so getting the marketing department to earn their keep may be a great place to start.

On that note the only positive bit of marketing this season has been the Lionesses playing Italy a few weeks ago and this is the sort of thing we should be looking to do on a regular basis, rather than it being a quick flash in the pan.

To me paying compensation to another club for a manager who has no real experience in getting promoted from Lg2 is just dead money, whereas using the same amount of money to fund a better experienced manager who more than likely could get us promoted and is currently available in my opinion is a better use of the funds.

In my previously post I said that we once pushed the boat out and brought Micky Adams to the club with all his experience, and like they say the rest is history.

What I am certain of is that we can't afford to keep making the same mistakes over and over again, something has to change and the most important decision at the moment is selecting the best manager for the job and as we've seen many times that is not always the cheapest option, because in this life you generally get what you pay for.

...Maybe it should be Brown, he knows what its like at the club and what he's dealing with.

As much as it wouldn't be my first choice, I think we have to assume MB will be manager, at least until new owners come in? Take too long for a new man to come in and assess the squad - and not being able to see the players in competitive situation, which MB has.

We need a bit of togetherness, stability first, all this bickering among ourselves is not really any encouragement to entice new manager/owner to our club. As others have said on other post Garrick somehow needs to build the buzz and try and gets some unity with the fans going into new season.think Michael Brown should be given a go. Whichever manager is chosen, no guarantees of success experience or not, Burton did not go with experienced managers or excessive running cost, just built slowly on a good base, to many supporters want instant success. Let us as supporters make this club attractive to any new owner out there. A good season ticket offer needs putting together to give us a viable budget for the new season,do we want this club to survive then we as supporters have got to support regardless of our differing opinions. We can spend all a energy barking on about Smurfs wrong doings or convert some of that energy supporting the club going forward into the new season. U.T.Vale

From the Fradley interview on twitter it seems Smurf will be providing some funding to keep us competitive at least.

well if he doesn't then the club will have to go cap in hand to the football league for a loan to pay it's way and when that runs out the club will be advised to go into administration which will entail a 10 point deduction and risk a winding up petition from hmrc then norman will lose every cent as the club aka Hereford will drop like a stone through the leagues and the club will then be attractive to every bloody asset stripping chancer who couldn't give a toss about the club as long as he makes some easy money, not a happy prospect but at least norman would lose his investment which would sweeten the pill somewhat.

Agree with this. Stability, planning, steady progress built on a solid foundation.

More affordable pricing for ST's and pay on the day.

There is so much energy spent on this forum; I wonder how it can be utilised constructively?
