Answer...none. This has been going on in the background for weeks I would imagine. The noises coming out of Vale about him staying have been distinctly unconvincing...after a while you just get a feeling about these things.

I'd wager a guess that a club from towards the top of our league has offered a small transfer fee for Jones and maybe even said they'd triple his wages - whatever he was on here. That's why he's going, I would suggest.

 

He was involved in the pre-match warm up against Chesterfield but pulled out at the last minute so he was probably feeling unwell. No conspiracy theory I'm afraid.

 

Even Eastleigh offered better terms to Duffy than we did so is anyone seriously surprised if we can't compete on transfer fees and wages with 3/4 of the teams in our league?

Good luck to the lad wherever he goes but in my opinion he was never going to remain at Vale Park.

Hardly surprising really and in all honesty both Brown and Norman will have known this was coming for weeks. That said hopefully they have been scouting not only a replacement for Jones, but also the striker we badly need had Jones stayed or not.
