Evans' scoring record is exceptional. In a good team he'd score a shed load of goals and if I was your manager I'd be trying to sign him as Chesterfield are going down.

 

Jones has potential and has done well in a poor Vale team but he is still young and inexperienced and not necessarily a guaranteed success yet. He isn't the finished article.

Exceptional in front of goal but otherwise he does leave a lot to be desired. Never played really in his correct position here though so that does excuse some of that. Goals are not easy to come by though and most goalscorers at this level have deficiencies elsewhere.

 

Could work out well, could be a nobody in 6 months.

Jones knows where the net is and that's it really. But brilliant to have a player like that at this level imo. Gutted he's left us as he was generally our only goal threat. Hope he does well elsewhere and dosent regret this decision.

Any of you guys heard anything with regards to his lad coming to Valley Parade for the rest of the season?

 

McCall did confirm that he hoped to take a look at him against Chesterfield the other night, but obviously he didn't play. We also felt we were in for Ched Evans, but since then McCall has played this one down.

 

Jones has scored a few, but I'm always sceptical of these kinda moves.

 

Scores goals that's his game. Other than that he dosent look special but most of his shots end up in the back of the net. Far better than what Evans looked the other day!

...if you're going to play him up front with Hanson, then he may well score on a regular basis. However, if you're going to leave Hanson out and play Jones instead... any chance we could borrow Hanson for a few months? We are desperately short of a physical presence up front, especially one who can contribute some goals as well.

He scores goals. That's about it.

 

There may be other aspects to his game that become apparent when he plays in a different type of team than us (ie one that plays on the front foot and creates chances) but let's face it, we were never going to see that.

 

He's a bit selfish as well, which can either be a good or a bad thing. Mind you, I wouldn't pass to some of our lot if I was him either.

He has very good movement, good control, and is a very decent finisher. Can't play up front by himself, and played mostly on the right wing for us, coming narrow to decent effect.

 

A few of his goals have been penalties but imho he has kept our season going in the face of woeful service and support. Should bag a few for you.

Well Bradford certainly do need a goal machine,considering where they are in the league there are only 9 teams with a worse goals tally.
