What rubbish on here,Smurf agreed a fee with brum but the players agent wanted more as in a bigger cut for himself so he started an auction and Bradford bit.It remains to be seen if the deal benefits the player but it's certainly benefitted the agent, these easy money parasites will eventually kill lower league football as they belong in the rarefied atmosphere of the premiership, clubs in the lower leagues can't afford to give money away but in bradfords case chasing automatic promotion they will speculate to accumulate and promotion will make it all worth while and the easy money parasites continue to live off the backs of others.

I think its naive and plain wrong to solely blame the agent for a player going somewhere for more money, better prospects etc. But hes easy to blame as hes the go between the club and player. Its the agents job to get as many clubs interested and the best deals possible. Then the player decides after hes met the clubs and heard the 'sales pitch' from the managers and seen the offers.

Its an 'auction' all the time for every player that wants a move or is kicked out of a club. Ryan Lloyd is good example this week, 3 or 4 clubs chasing him. If his agent has anything about him he will have touted his name around saying this lads only got a few months left on his deal and will have got teams to come and watch him. At the other end of the scale I remember when them down the road signed Begovic, he was at Tottenham ready for a medical when he decided to leave and go to them instead. Why would you decide to go to them over Tottenham? A better chance of playing regularly probably. I'm pretty sure that Willian did the same to Tottenham when Chelsea came in. Again all down to an agent generating interest with other clubs.

Agreeing a fee between clubs is just the tip of the iceberg, that doesn't mean the player has to automatically go to that club.

Jones could have decided to come to us for more money thans hes currently on, but with less money than Bradford were offering and arguably less chance of getting promotion. Its a no brainer where he would go when you compare both options.

Every club pays a small percentage of a players salary to their agents all the time, thats how it works. Its no different to you getting a job up at screwfix through one of the agencies up in Hanley, they get a cut up front. Without agents players have no one to look after their interests when they are after a move, are told they aren't wanted at a club or are in contract negotiations for a new deal.

Because Bradford can probably offer 2, 3 or 4 times what we can.

We were trying weeks and weeks ago according to Brown.

Bradford has twice the population of Stoke-on-Trent, the Bantams have no Prem teams close by, they are thus in a different category and should never be below the Championship. So it is very difficult to compete with them, not impossible but far from easy. Lots of Prem teams have the same problem if they want to be in the top 6, not that they should not try, but it is difficult and also very enjoyable when you are punching above your weight.
