Pointless signing.

 

Put aside his injuries and recent goal scoring record - how does he even fit in to our system?? Why send the promising Hooper out and replace him with someone arguably less prolific? He should have only been replaced with a current PROVEN goalscorer, not a has-been. Madness.

Jeez, some of the comments on here make me want to weep. You'd think we'd signed Satan himself judging by some of the posts. I don't give a **** what he's said about Vale in the past, if he can score enough goals to get us promoted that'll do for me.

I don't think hooper is class by any stretch but surely it made more sense keeping him as he's young rather than signing Patterson? Hopefully he can re capture his form a few years back and stay fit and we may have a decent player. Hopefully he bangs them in for us.

We gave Lee Hughes a chance. All his supposed baggage aside, his injury record is most concerning. He's had plenty of time to rest, by the sound of things though.

After all the hype of Varney , Best , Armstrong, even the very very slim option of Le Fondre, we have signed Patterson, my heart has just sunk to my feet . No probs with him being a ssst fan just the problem of his goalscoring record , or should i say lack of one. Gosh should just have let JJ play in his forward position. HOWEVER, will give him a chance see how he goes , but...............................................bl***y hell

let's try to look at it this way.

he's reaching thirty, he know's his time is running out football wise, being local (friends / family / area) will perhaps suit him and he's perhaps realised that, he's still got some pace, in his younger day's, he did know where the net was, and still more than likely does, as he's a striker, and northern irish, working under andy smith, who probably doesnt take any crap, could potentially bring out the best in him. who knows?
