Pretty sure that this is the third time that Yates has signed a contract without a manager being in place at Vale. I doubt anyone has ever done that before.

It is obviously nice to have a local lad playing for us but although it is getting quite rediclious now. Like Steven Taylor at Newcastle there's a time where you just need to let go and this is the same case with Yates.

Vale's final fate and position next season is not going to be determined by whether one player signs or not, but by the overall balance and composition of the squad. Not just in skills on the pitch either - but by passion for the club and adding a little stability in a period of massive change.

 

So I'm very glad to see Adam Yates being loyal, dependable and helpful to the cuase by signing on what are very modest wages. As a squad player, he is very useful to have and it also boosts morale amongst what is left of the playing staff.

 

Hoping you have an enjoyable season Adam, and thank you for your loyalty.
