Who will be the Vales new manager?

A very 'Smurthwaite' appointment.

He gets to win favour with Mourinho which will massage his ego and provide other personal benefits and Vale get an inexperienced, unsuccessful manager who knows nothing about League One.

At least he can't blame anyone else if this goes South.

Totally agree. This guy's managerial record is lamentable.

It's all very well giving someone new to management a go but this looks plain silly.

In full agreement with you LV, another disturbing factor is that Smurf is letting the Sentinel do all the talking on the appointment, and not himself.

Totally agree. The buck will well and truly stop with Smurf now, no hiding place, no excuses, its all down to Smurf.

The negatives about this new guy seem to be his managerial track record and his lack of knowledge of league one. However bringing in an experienced English coach alongside him who knows the English game on paper a good idea. Firstly he should have contacts and also be able to advise the new bloke. Secondly Smurf has probably done this as a safety net in case the manager doesn't work out.

Is he though Bon'Ami? Do they really know who will be our next manager? And if they do was the pending appointment leaked from within - but not from Smurf?

Anyway, just 4 more sleeps...

The Sentinel seems to be informed as to who the new manager/coach will be. But whoever he is lets give him a chance to prove his worth. Judge him on style of play, tactics and league position after 6/8 months.

Give the man encouragement and a chance to change Vales fortune.

Absolutely agree. I think a change in managerial structure is a massive positive for the club and should allow us to build some stability at the club for once. Let's see how the new 'head Coach' gets on and judge him when he has a body of work in English football to compare against others.
