Who will be the Vales new manager?

Like I said to Young Carpetman on Twitter mate, yes his record on Wiki doesn't look brilliant (slight understatement there, lol). However Wiki is slightly misleading because it doesn't state what might of been going on behind the scenes at the clubs he was at.

The above write up is more favourable.

At the end of the day, have the likes of Coleman or Redfern ever won games in the same league as Benfica or Porto. No mater who Smurf appoints any new manager is a risk.

And don't forget Brown knows this guy and along with the new head of recruitment will offer some stability.

Let's face it - I'm a bit anxious too, but we've had Gannon, Glover and Sinnott lately so it's unlikely he'll be any worse than those three even if our worse nightmares come to pass.

He might get us playing carpet football in the Portuguese style. Or he might not.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Bruno was still available at 1 / 8 (or 1.13) - that's place £8 to win £1 - with Skybet this afternoon.

Given the way facts become fiction and changes of mind, talking to dead ex-chairmen and conspiracy plots to get managers to leave have found their way into recent Vale folklore, those odds are terrible.

Don't be tempted to stack a big wedge on it anyone, unless you feel certain that no change of mind can possibly happen - either by NS or Bruno.

Bringing in a Portuguese manager with no experience of managing in England, let alone in the lower divisions (where you need a special sort of knowledge), seems like a big risk to me. If he is to be our manager, he deserves our full support but, to be honest, I'd prefer someone who knows his way around Leagues 1 and 2 and has a track record of working with limited resources. Someone like John Coleman, for example, who has a reputation for playing good football. And, preferably, someone who's managed to achieve promotion to the championship.

Sometimes, taking big risks brings a big pay off, so let's hope Smurf gets it right. We certainly need someone to steady the ship at present. Fingers crossed.

Norman has said he'll support him and that we are also bringing in a DOF to help him with the lower leagues. It's something different. A new, hopefully exciting, direction for the club.

So I've got a crazy, novel idea; Why don't we see what players he brings in, what type of football we're going to play, what his friendship with Mourinho actually brings... Let him put his own stamp on things, and get behind him instead of moaning before a ball's even kicked.
