Yesterdays trophies are yesterdays news.....and though I like United more than City, they are not even the biggest club in Greater Manchester any more, let alone anywhere else. Still, if money is all that counts......

I have to add that they were already a title-winning top European club when the Glazers took over, so they have actually gone down in status. Time will tell if this is temporary, we all have diferent views on it, but I really wouldn't be surprised if United became the 'new Liverpool' and didn't win the title again in 20 years, still having big support but nowhere near their old dominance.

You're surely not arguing that the club has been a failure under the Glazers though? Christ on a bike, I'd kill for that sort of failure!

United are the biggest football club on the planet along with Real Madrid.

Perhaps it's you that's turned into a miserable old scrote, Nick?!! :D

Selling Beamish and replacing him with Kenny Todd was the start of that woeful period where we nearly went out of the league. We were dire then.

Dire is the only word that can be used to describe kenny Todd at the Vale (Apols Kenny if you ever read this), think we paid 37500GBP for him from Wolves which was a fortune back then.

Yes,those were the days,3,287 average home attendance's,twelve home games without a win and £40,000 wasted on Peter Farrell and you never lost your temper. Is it something to do with your age?

Some games we struggled to attract 2000K fans. I rated Peter Farrell as well as Alan Lamb, another often target for the boo-boys.

Money wise maybe Howjy but second rate to Barca and Bayern quality wise.LVG has been a failure so far but could be the first Utd.manager to beat Liverpool five times on the trot?

Hey c'mon fellas Vale are just 3 points off the play-offs, irrespective wether you like Smurf or not the time for the team is now we can make a difference by turning up in numbers and showing that through all the doom and gloom merchants at the moment we could actually do it!!

Teams around us are so inconsistant, who would have thought at Christmas Barnsley were bottom now occupy a play-off place, have yo seen Coventry's fixtures for April!!

We have a chance if we all stay positive, Smurf blusters about cutting the budget but c'mon he has said that for three years then gone on to spend more money!! he's now saying he is'nt putting anymore money in but now going to add a striker to have a push!!! whats all that about!

I will support the team whoever the owner is or the Manager....because thats what we do...we are all VALE!!!

When you are cosying up to Smurf do you mention the potential damage he's done/doing to the squad ?

Anyone else getting a tad exciting to see if anything comes of the America trip?

Deal or no deal we'll hopefully get a seasoned striker in next week!

Smurf should be putting a ticket deal on if we get anything out of this weekends game, start building the buzz again... Was it 2004 when we were last in this position - ages ago, we have a wonderful opportunity and foot in mouth from Smurf or otherwise, we should all get down to the next home game!
