Hey c'mon fellas Vale are just 3 points off the play-offs, irrespective wether you like Smurf or not the time for the team is now we can make a difference by turning up in numbers and showing that through all the doom and gloom merchants at the moment we could actually do it!!

Teams around us are so inconsistant, who would have thought at Christmas Barnsley were bottom now occupy a play-off place, have yo seen Coventry's fixtures for April!!

We have a chance if we all stay positive, Smurf blusters about cutting the budget but c'mon he has said that for three years then gone on to spend more money!! he's now saying he is'nt putting anymore money in but now going to add a striker to have a push!!! whats all that about!

I will support the team whoever the owner is or the Manager....because thats what we do...we are all VALE!!!

Bang on the money

Spot on but I fear some fans have gone too far and because of their negative comments about everything from the owner to the state of the pies will find it too difficult to attend unless they go in disguise?

But apart from those few they are just flocking through the gates.

What twaddle.

I agree completely about MOLD. Something needed to be done and was, but in the grand scheme of things is our current situation that bad? Better quality squad, higher division, best home form in years, potential saleable assets, steady (although not quickly enough) improvement of infrastructure? Surely all these positives aren't outweighed by a few silly comments from the chairman. His talk of budget cuts etc. are all taken with a pinch of salt for me as we've heard it all before, yet he has still funded signings. Even if the budget was reduced, we'd probably be paying a squad of 18-20 rather than 30+ so the actual change would not be that dramatic and we'd have a trimmed down squad of better players and release the deadwood.

I just don't see why people are so precious about the chairman saying a few silly things. We know pr isn't his strong point so why take it all in?

The best bet is to get down to the ground on match day to support the team, otherwise what's the point in being a fan?

Im simply saying people dont need or necessarily want to hear about crisis management every couple of days, they generally want to hear good news about something they care about.

The "get down the park and support the lads" cry is like teaching your gran to suck eggs.... the average attendances arent down so the hard core are still turning up in there usual numbers... but its not enough, we have to attract walk ups.

If you saw a sale advertising a crap product at an expensive price... would you go and buy?... bearing in mind we are not talking about attracting the faithful.... would budget cuts, slashing wages, racist slurs etc attract you to vale park at 20+ quid?

Some fans moan out of frustration, it gets it out but they still attend.... some seriously may not attend.... I wouldnt knock anyone if they decided enough was enough because it wont get them back and could seriously harden their decision.... if we have lost them then so be it, its their time, money and decision.

We need to attract new attendees and convert them to ST holders, that wont happen with the PR campaign presently being used, berate them, blame them and constantly tell them things will be getting worse next season will not entice people to attend.

WE know smurf is a numpty but again thats preaching to the converted

The negative comments about the owner are usually in response to negative comments from the owner.

If the pies are out of date and make you ill... dont say anything... its the vale and should be accepted.

As for a disguise... who do you know on here?.... perhaps they should apply a blue face so you will recognise them :)

Does that mean it is enjoyable?

I have been going since 1958 and I stopped because I have never enjoyed it less.

I've just read your post to my better half who has been going since 1950 and his response was "Nonsense!" He then proceeded to list a number of seasons when the football was absolute garbage and the team couldn't win a raffle. The late 70s in particular were seriously dire and the 64-65 relegation team was awful. And who can forget that lovely spell under managerial magician Dean Glover?

If you have never enjoyed it less, Nick, perhaps it's down to something other than the football on display. We aren't Barcelona but we are certainly not Denis Butler's Vale!

I was probably infected with the same euphoria then as some of the happy clappers are now! I can only say that I never lost my temper with the team once then , recently it has been happening far too often. There are far too many complainants on here for it to be mere coincidence.

Crap though he was I would far more like to see Big Bernie than some of the pathetic excuses nowadays, and didn't Beamish play in those days too.
