Overall I think we need to spend money on at least 1 proven goal scorer. I fear Campion is truly duff and the gap between league 2 and 1 is bigger than ever. As others have pointed out why no attempts to sign DJ Campbell or maybe Calvin Zola? Both free agents who have fallen on hard times but largely due to injuries or other problems that don't take away ability.

I mention Zola because I saw him play for Stevenage and he looked very good. Have a feeling he'd be very good with Dodds believe it or not. He really pushes forward with the ball and although slow works well with forwards who have pace. The only reason he was released was because he was injured but was coming back to fitness.

I tend to agree.

And the likes of Ball (Fleetwood) and Mooney (a big long-shot) I don't think have found clubs yet.

At least one must be proven and capable of getting us 15+ goals even if we have to spend a bit more on him than we perhaps anticipated.

If we could find someone and get hold of say Inniss then we would be full of confidence for August but there's along way to go yet.

DJ Campbell plays for Maidenhead United. That's why we wouldn't go near him.

David Ball is a player I'd be happy to see us sign. Never got a run of games at Fleetwood but very highly rated before that.

Tom Elliott is the player who hit the post when Cambridge played United in the cup. The Cambridge fans I know (season ticket holders) say that he is essentially a big target man with little pace who doesn't score that many goals. He was a bit of a cult hero at Cambridge as he never stopped running and served as a battering ram for their team with predictable results in terms of injuries. Basically, he would be kicked off the pitch by the opposition and often had to be taken off!

So opinion was mixed when he was released. General view seems to be that he would score goals at Conference level and a few at League Two but not many in League One. If Page wants him to play in that role, fair enough but he doesn't seem like the goalscorer we need.

Think Clayton McDonald playing up front

He could be an improved version of Ben Williamson. He scored in his last game and got man of the match at Burton last season. Maybe he might not be a great goalscorer who can score 20 goals a season. Pope wasn't a great goalscorer till he signed for Vale. Then he went on to become a vale local hero and scored 33 goals in our promotion season. I think it will be a hard battle to replace our local hero due to our playing budget this season.
