Absolutely no idea why he's going now but good riddance

For me they should bring someone in from outside football that has no connections with FIFA/UEFA/etc to reform it from top to bottom...someone with a proven track record of reform, foresight, honesty, credibility etc

Ed Balls is available

you're asking a lot atna JA, does such a person exist, the only one I can think of is peter mandellsson,,:laugh:

I see France,Germany and Spain all voted for Blatter in the latest election?

Just about sums up the ineptitude of UEFA and Europe in general. Sad state of affairs when the catalyst for reform within FIFA is a country within which football (soccer) is considered a minor sport.

Will it make much difference?

One of his cronies will get the job.

Havelenge, before Blatter, did the same thing and it carried on regardless.

Don't hold your breath.

I think he is a gonner much sooner than most believe Bon'Ami, and with it a great chance to correct the biggest voting gerrymander which sees the likes of the Cayman Islands given the same voting power as England. Totally insane.

Sepp Blatter has been a FIFA 'employee' for the best part of 40 years and during that time has played a significant role in the 'accounts department'. It seems that over time the largesse to the smaller FIFA 'Associations was specifically designed to deliver absolute power to one man only.

As Fosse says..."... this story will run and run."

From what I've read during a delayed train journey to work:

1. Blatter has gone because the FBI are about to charge him (he jumped before he was pushed)

2. The main worry now is that he will have time to simply put an underling in charge (i.e. he'll maintain power)

3. The Quatari bid team should be very worried if a Blatter sympathiser doesn't win the election

All that is gleamed from the Guardian coverage this morning.

You were doing well 'til you mentioned The Guardian ;)

I know I'm repeating myself but they need to bring in someone from outside to reform the whole thing...someone with no football connections

George Galloway

Mary Berry

Simon Cowell

Russell Brand

Totally agree, needs to be someone from outside football, not from within the corrupt halls of any FA, UEFA or FIFA.
