Fleetwood (A) match thread 3rd Feb

Fully expect that if Crosby was fired it would take weeks before anyone else was appointed- that’s the Vale way

wouldn’t surprise me if they sacked Crosby and then asked him to be caretaker until they found someone else 😄

Not even angry any more, I was last Saturday but resigned myself to going down after the transfer window.  We gave up our status by not bringing in a LWB and 2 strikers, don't know whether this is down to Flitcroft or a lack of money but it was shocking to think we could go into this run of fixtures with Loft and Wilson as the only senior strikers.  Can those people who keep saying we will be comfortable in mid-table at the end of the season and no need to worry please explain who we are going to get the points against as we are rubbish against the top teams and even worse when we play those at the bottom.

I'll tell you what will happen right now if he gets sacked. Flitcroft will take over until the end of the season. Be careful what you wish for.

The players we have are good enough at L1 level. The manager isn't. He needs to go unfortunately and before Tuesday. Need to bring in a proven experienced manager. We will then improve rapidly. We should be comfortable mid table and it's directly down to Crosby we are not. I accept players make mistakes like v Charlton but his team selections, subs and tactics have cost us a shed load of points.

Players didn't show that today. As a bloke next to me said it was a scared performance. Low in confidence, no-one to pass to in midfield or up front. One of the issues I think, especially on a pitch like today - but also at Vale Park, is that the wing backs are too high up the pitch too early (especially Massey) so the centre halves are too far apart and it is easy to squeeze the ball and the team cannot move up the pitch.

None of that is an excuse today. Only Chislett and Ripley (especially for talking with supporters at end) had any real credit.

You have to give some credit to Crosby for having the guts to come across and face us too. He must be gutted by the lack of aggression and fight.

You have also got to say that the luck is not going our way. Despite his great run I would swear that their number 5 was shooting not crossing.

Youve got to say are the players playing for him anymore looks to me that they dont believe in him anymore

Have the club run out of money or run out of ambition ?  Transfer window was very poor and everbody can see that we are desparte for an out and out striker who knows where the back of the net is.  I wasn't worried until watching that performance today.  Its so easy to blame AC but he's expected to win a boxing match with 1 hand tried behind his back and to be honest I don't think a new manager would solve the problem, the problem is much deeper.  Get the recruitment right, get some ambition or get out.

The one thing that stood out to me today was just how good Arblaster and Devine had been !!  We have become talentless rudderless and hopeless.

Losing both of them has had a big impact, they ran riot at times giving both defence and attack more confidence.  Just hope Garrity gets back soon to plug part of the gap.

Not sure I agree. You could tell the players cared. They looked gutted and a bit shell shocked at the end. Don't think there was a lack of effort either. Just a complete lack of effectiveness.

Just not good enough maybe? For me Ripley, Ojo, Garrity, Willo & Chislet I’d keep the rest are probably league 2 standard or loans anyway who won’t be staying

I'm not a knob and who's he? Enjoy national league in 2 seasons when you've prised your tongue from the " custodians" arse

Enough man. Calm yourself. Show some consideration for fellow Vale fans.

Yes, tensions are high, but that's unnecessary
